Przemysł budowlany rozwija się w ostatnich latach wyjątkowo intensywnie. Zmiany te obserwuje się w różnych dziedzinach, takich jak: ochrona środowiska, podnoszenie świadomości pracowników na temat zagadnień bezpieczeństwa i ochrony zdrowia na placu budowy (BHP), ochrona danych, zarządzanie zasobami ludzkimi oraz ścieżką kariery personelu szczególnie uzdolnionego, gospodarka odpadami, górnictwo miejskie, zarządzanie utrzymaniem infrastruktury czy wykorzystanie nowoczesnych technologii informatycznych. Aby odpowiednio przygotować w tych dziedzinach kadrę budowlaną, należy wdrożyć odpowiednie podejście w zakresie metod edukacji i nauczania. Autorzy postanowili zaprezentować czytelnikowi zbiór siedmiu najnowszych manuali, które zostaną przygotowane podczas realizacji szóstego etapu projektu Erasmus+ CLOEMC (VI) oraz najważniejsze aspekty zarządzania nowoczesną, wieloetniczną i wielokulturową budową z elementami ekologii, socjologii, technologii i zdrowia na placu budowy, w ramach metodologii projektu Erasmus+ 3Msite.

The construction industry has been developing exceptionally intensively in recent years. These changes are observed in various fields, such as: environmental protection, raising awareness of health and safety issues on construction sites, data protection, human resources management and the career path of particularly talented personnel, waste management, urban mining, infrastructure maintenance management and the use of modern information technologies. To properly prepare the construction staff in these areas, an appropriate approach in the field of education and teaching methods should be implemented. The authors present a set of seven latest manuals that will be prepared during the implementation of the sixth stage of the Erasmus+ CLOEMC (VI) project and the most important aspects relating to the issues of managing a modern, multiethnic and multi-cultural construction with aspects of ecology, sociology, technology and health and safety on the construction site, as part of the Erasmus+ 3M Site project methodology.

Autorzy artykułu prezentują nowoczesne narzędzia rozpoznawania kwalifikacji w budownictwie, w tym kwalifikacji menedżerskich. Narzędzia te wypracowane zostały w serii projektów współfinansowanych z UE, w tym: projekt ERASMUS+ CLOEMC V - którego pełen tytuł brzmi „Common Learning Outcomes for Europeanmanagers in Construction, part V” oraz ERASMUS+ IPCIC - „Improvement of Professional Competences in Construction”. W projekcie CLOEMC opracowano kolejne podręczniki Biblioteki Menedżera Budownictwa, czyli podstawy nauczania, a tym samym zasady rozpoznawania europejskich kwalifikacji menedżerskich dla potrzeb karty EURBE (European Building Expert), a w projekcie IPCIC nowoczesne materiały multimedialne dla nowej specjalności budowlanej - technik robót wykończeniowych oraz, bardzo ciekawy w dzisiejszych czasach - film podkreślający etos pracy zatrudnionego w budownictwie specjalisty. Artykuł przedstawia rezultaty projektów oraz ich praktyczne wykorzystanie w nowoczesnej dydaktyce na WIL PW oraz zawodowych szkołach technicznych.

The authors of the article present modern tools for recognizing qualifications in construction, including managerial qualifications. These tools have been developed in a series of EU co-financed projects, including: ERASMUS+ CLOEMC V - the full title of which is “Common Learning Outcomes for European Managers in Construction, part V” and ERASMUS+ IPCIC - Improvement of Professional Competences in Construction. The CLOEMC project developed further manuals of the Building Manager Library, covering learning outcomes and thus the principles of recognizing European managerial qualifications for the EURBE card (European Building Expert). In the IPCIC project, modern multimedia materials for a new construction specialization - finishing works technician and, very interesting nowadays - a film highlighting the work ethos of a specialist employed in the construction industry. The article presents the results of the projects and their practical use in modernteaching at WIL PW and vocational technical schools.

The paper follows the first author’s continuous work on chemistry textbook analysis. In the previous paper published in CERP, attention was given to the procedure and results for analysing text-difficulty in lower-secondary chemistry textbooks in Czechia. In this paper, attention was given to non-chemical vocational school chemistry textbooks. They are intended for the most numerous group of upper-secondary students. The goal of the study was to assess the to what extent could students read the textbook texts on their own with appropriate understanding. Therefore, only the textual component was evaluated. The same method (Nestler-Prucha-Pluskal) as in the previous paper was used to analyse the textbooks’ text-difficulty (readability). The results show there are two books which are suitable for students’ own learning. However, there are four textbooks which contain text of high difficulty, including too many scientific terms that they are suitable as teacher’s guide through terms rather than student’s textbooks. The analysis may serve teachers with their textbook choice as well as researchers who operate in the same field who can easily adopt the methodology and compare results.

One of the main purposes of textbooks is the mediation of educational content to students. The factual accuracy of information, as well as the clarity of the text for students plays a crucial role in this aspect. The inadequate text difficulty can complicate students' learning. Comparing different approaches to the text in textbooks, considering the objectives of education, represents key knowledge for teaching materials innovation. This research was therefore focused on the comparison of the Slovak and Canadian science textbooks for lower secondary education. The methodology for assessing text difficulty according to Nestler, Prucha and Pluskal was used for this purpose. The samples of text from the textbooks for 6th and 8th grade of lower-secondary school were assessed. It was found that the text in Slovak textbooks is significantly more difficult. While from the syntactic difficulty point of view differences were rather partial, the significant differences were found in the semantic difficulty of the text. The Slovak textbooks are burdened with an excessive number of professional terms. Considering the results in measuring scientific literacy, this approach to the text in the Slovak textbooks is not effective. The results obtained are therefore an incentive to revise used educational materials.

Zaprezentowane projekty dotyczą: opracowania piątej części Biblioteki Menedżera Budowlanego, udoskonalenia kwalifikacji zawodowych w dziedzinie robót wykończeniowych w budownictwie oraz promocji zawodu technika budowlanego, a także podnoszenia umiejętności przestrzennych z wykorzystaniem technologii rzeczywistości rozszerzonej.

The Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology runs many didactic projects, co-financed by EU programmes, which broaden the didactic offer of the Faculty, adjust the teaching offer to the requirements of industry and make teaching more friendly and interesting for students and university staff. The presented projects concern: development of the fifth part of Construction Manager’s Library, improvement of professional qualifications in the field of finishing works in construction and promotion of the profession of construction technician, as well as improvement of spatial skills with the use of augmented reality technology.

Diet tracking via self-reports or manual taking of meal photos might be difficult, time-consuming, and discouraging, especially for children, which limits the potential of long-term dietary assessment. We present the design and development of a proof of concept of an automated and unobtrusive system for diet tracking integrating: a) a social robot programmed to automatically capture photos of food and motivate children, b) a deep learning model based on Google Inception V3, applied for the use case of image-based fruit recognition, c) a RESTful microservice architecture deployed to deliver the model outcomes to a platform aiming at childhood obesity prevention. We illustrate the feasibility and virtue of this approach, towards the development of the next-generation computer-assisted systems for automated diet tracking.

The handbook by Karol Stadtmüller is the first Polish machine design handbook for engineers. It also contains issues which belong traditionally to the mechanism theory area. The paper presents a review of these issues and the way they were treated by the author. It is a successive publication from the series dedicated to the history of the Polish school of the mechanism and machine theory.

Brain computer interface (BCI) is a system allows a user to control external devices or to communicate with other people using only his or her thoughts. The P300 speller is one such BCI in which users input letters. For inputting letters via the P300 speller, higher accuracy and shorter input times are needed, especially given densely populated display screens. We propose a new interface with a second display in the P300 speller that the user can switch to and from by selecting the “next” or “back” commands, therby reducing the density of displayed letters and improving the performance of the P300 speller. We show the comparison results in terms of accuracy and input times between the conventional interface and proposed interface.

The paper presents the inspirations and justifications to publish the “Visual Primer” – an educational book describing the graphic design. The book text and layout began as a subject of M.Sc. thesis defended in the Faculty of Graphic Design in the Academy of Arts in Katowice. Designing this book is tied to the need to arrange and to mold the environment, thus dealing with the problem of enormous visual chaos in public spaces. It is a successful attempt of combining the quality factors (including aesthetic ones) and usability. The content and design of this book shall still be improved, however with some effort the “Visual Primer” will have a chance to be seen in the publishing market.

W artykule opisano motywacje i inspiracje powstania Elementarza wizualnego – książki o charakterze edukacyjnym poruszającej tematykę związaną z grafiką użytkową. Tekst i projekt podręcznika powstały w ramach pracy magisterskiej obronionej w 2011 r. na Wydziale Projektowym Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Katowicach. Promotorem pracy jest dr Jacek Mrowczyk. Zarówno zawartość, jak i projekt książki wymagają wciąż wiele pracy, ale po odpowiednim dopracowaniu ma ona szansę zaistnieć na rynku wydawniczym.

Soil steel composite bridges are used more and more often in road and railroad bridge construction. Spans have increased and structures with spans over 20 m have been built. At the same time road designers call for lower heights of cover. At lower heights of cover the effect of concentrated loads will increase and therefore checking of the fatigue capacity is becoming more important. The paper presents the on-going project involving fatigue testing of bolted connections used to lap corrugated steel plates in Soil Steel Composite Bridges together with an evaluation of the detail category. The project also includes the development of a design procedure for the fatigue design of a Soil Steel Composite Bridge with low height of cover according to the Eurocode.

Kompozytowe konstrukcje gruntowo-stalowe są wykorzystywane coraz częściej w roli mostów drogowych i kolejowych. Rozpiętość tych konstrukcji wzrasta; powstają nawet konstrukcje o rozpiętości przekraczającej 20 m. Jednocześnie projektanci dróg wymagają coraz mniejszej wysokości naziomu. Przy mniejszej wysokości naziomu wzrasta oddziaływanie skupionych obciążeń, co zwiększa znaczenie kontroli wytrzymałości zmęczeniowej. Praca przedstawia prowadzony aktualnie projekt badawczy, obejmujący próby zmęczeniowe połączeń śrubowych służących do łączenia na zakładkę blach w mostach gruntowo-stalowych ze stali falistej wraz z oceną kategorii. Projekt obejmuje również opracowanie procedury projektowania wytrzymałości zmęczeniowej mostów gruntowo- stalowych z niskim naziomem zgodnie z Eurocode.

This paper describes some of the research background needed for the development of the Swedish design method for Soil Steel Composite Bridges. The research work was undertaken at the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering, division of Structural Engineering and Bridges, at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. With spans growing larger and heights of cover smaller, the aim was to develop a design method that could be used in everyday design work. The design method, based on several full-scale tests, is today a code requirement in Sweden and Finland and is in use in several other countries in Europe. This paper describes some of the background to the design method, but also on-going research and planned future developments.

Praca opisuje częściowo podstawy badań przeprowadzonych w opracowania szwedzkiej metodologii projektowania mostów gruntowo-stalowych. Badania zostały przeprowadzone na Wydziale Inżynierii Lądowej i Wodnej i Architektury w katedrze Inżynierii Budowlanej i Techniki w Królewskim Instytucie Techniki KTH w Sztokholmie w Szwecji. Ponieważ zwiększają się rozpiętości, a wysokości naziomu maleją, celem pracy było opracowanie metody projektowej, którą można stosować w codziennej pracy projektowej. Metoda projektowa, oparta o kilka prób w pełnej skali, stanowi dzisiaj część wymogów przepisów projektowych w Szwecji oraz Finlandii i jest również stosowana w innych krajach europejskich. Praca opisuje część badań, które pozwoliły opracować tę metodę, a także badania prowadzone obecnie i planowane.

Wyniki badań wykazały, że nauczyciele za najbardziej pożądaną funkcję w podręczniku do techniki uznali funkcję ćwiczeniową. Zyskała ona dużą przewagę nad pozostałymi funkcjami i, według ankietowanych, ma największy wpływ na lepsze i skuteczniejsze uczenie się ucznia. Dobrze oceniana była też funkcja samokontrolna, która znalazła się na drugim miejscu. Na kolejnych miejscach znalazły się funkcje: informacyjna oraz motywacyjna. Nauczyciele bardzo podobnie ocenili te dwie funkcje, co do ich ważności i roli jaką powinny odgrywać w podręczniku. Najsłabiej wypadła funkcja wychowawcza, a wiele z jej cech otrzymało bardzo niskie oceny. Przeprowadzone badania pokazały również, że na preferowane funkcje nie mają wpływu takie czynniki jak: płeć, staż pracy i rodzaj ukończonych studiów.

The results showed that teachers are the most desired function in the handbook of technology education recognized training function. It has gained a big advantage over the other functions and according to respondents has the greatest impact for the better and more effective student learning. Good function was also assessed self-control function, which came in second place. On the following locations were information and motivation functions. Teachers appreciated very much like these two functions as to their validity and the role they should play in the handbook. Least fell educational function, and many of its features have received a very low assessment. The studies also showed that the preferred features have no influence factors such as gender, seniority and type of completed studies.

Artykuł podsumowuje wyniki prac prowadzonych w ramach projektu Unii Europejskiej pt. "Koncepcje oszczędzania energii dla europejskiego przemysłu ceramicznego" CERAMIN. Pierwsza część artykułu poświęcona jest opracowanemu w ramach projektu podręcznikowi oszczędzania energii. Zalecenia i uwagi zebrane w tym wydawnictwie podsumowują doświadczenia najlepszych zakładów, ogólną wiedzę realizatorów projektu, a także opierają się na pokaźnym zbiorze literatury przedmiotu. Podręcznik podzielony jest na rozdziały, obejmujące podbranże ceramiczne; podaje porady dotyczące poszczególnych etapów technologicznych: przygotowania surowców, formowania, suszenia i wypalania. Autorzy podręcznika mają nadzieję, że zawarte w nim informacje pomogą w podejmowaniu decyzji modernizacyjnych i zostaną wykorzystane przez zakłady przemysłowe do opracowania bardziej energooszczędnych technologii wytwarzania wyrobów ceramicznych.

This article summarizes results of works carried out under the EU project "Energy saving concepts for the European ceramic industry" CERAMIN The first part of the article is devoted to the project drawn up tutorial about energy saving. Recommendations and observations collected in the tutorial summarize experiences of the best production plants, general knowledge of project partners, and are also based on technical publications. The document is divided into chapters covering specific ceramic sub branches and gives advice on the various technological steps: preparation of raw materials, forming, drying and firing. The authors hope that the information provided will be helpful in decision-making modernization and will be used by industrial plants to develop more energy-efficient technologies in the production of ceramic products.
