W artykule omówiono zagadnienie przeciwdziałania skutkom eksploatacji górniczej związanym z obniżeniami powierzchni terenów zabudowanych, w szczególności zagrożonych podtopieniem. Na przykładzie rejonu doliny rzeki Pszczynki przedstawiono propozycję podjęcia długookresowych działań dla naprawy obszarów przekształconych przez wielokrotną podziemną eksploatację górniczą, z możliwością podnoszenia budynków ponad pierwotny poziom terenu. Omówiono metodę wieloetapowego podnoszenia budowli w celu ich zabezpieczenia przed podtopieniami i umożliwienia wykonania niwelacji terenu.

Large surface subsidence is one of the underground mining effect, especially after multi-seam coal mining. Subsidence can cause the relative raising of groundwater table and structure flooding. Uneven surface subsidence causes also building tilting. There are well known methods to rectify tilted structures. The building lifting method for their protection against flooding caused by subsidence was discussed. The lifting can be conducted in the following stages: − preparation of building structure, − intersection of building walls at the certain level, − temporary building support using jacks, − multi-stage building uplifting, rectification if needed, − basement backfilling, − construction of a new basement, − soil backfilling around the building to the expected level, − land leveling. Land leveling around the building can be done with the use of rock mining waste. Structure lifting and land leveling seem to be one of the effective ways to counteract the mining damage in the large subsidence areas, especially in built-up areas endangered by flooding.
