Impact cylinders are used in machines for manufacturing and mounting due to high velocity of the piston rod and delivered high kinetic energy. Impact machines are well suited for cutting, forming, stamping, riveting, marking. The optimization of work parameters including kinetic energy is the key problem in planning the manufacturing process. The developed method enables to obtain the stroke and speed characteristics of the impact cylinder and optimize the work parameters. The position of the piston rod is measured using non-contact laser triangulation method. The developed software enables data acquisition and processing, determining the characteristics and calculating the kinetic energy. The measuring process is fully automated.
