Modern IT and teaching solutions are increasingly used in the distance learning process. The introduction of game ele-ments in the e-learning allows to increase the interest and motivation of the user when performing tasks. The "Quizer" e-learning platform has been designed to create interactive multimedia courses with elements of gameplay, including the multiplayer format. The paper discusses the technologies and tools used to build the platform. An example of a game designed in a multiplayer format is presented.

W procesie kształcenia na odległość coraz częściej stosowane są nowoczesne rozwiązania informatyczne i dydaktyczne. Wprowadzenie do e-learningu elementów rozgrywki pozwala na zwiększenie zainteresowania i motywacji użytkownika podczas wykonywania stawianych mu zadań. Platforma e-learningowa „Quizer” powstała z myślą tworzenia interaktywnych kursów multimedialnych z elementami rozgrywki, w tym w formacie multiplayer. W pracy omówiono zastosowane do budowy platformy technologie i narzędzia. Przedstawiono przykład gry wykonanej w formacie multiplayer.

Our university’s Learning Management System had been ready for use for two years or so, but largely ignored by most of the teachers at our language centre. The situation changed when the real need to try it appeared. We were asked to meet a new requirement – namely, to cover for our temporarily absent colleagues, sometimes at a moment’s notice. It seemed a good solution to harness our Learning Management System, or Pegasus, to help us do that. A year has passed since then, and the scheme is working – helping us very well. Hopefully, it all happens without “shortchanging” the students. In this paper, as one of the participants in the scheme, I will present the story of how we managed – not without a few hurdles – to turn our LMS into a useful, everyday tool in our language centre.

Platforma edukacyjna na naszym uniwersytecie była dostępna od co najmniej dwóch lat, ale przeważnie ignorowana przez większość lektorów, prowadzących zajęcia w Jagiellońskim Centrum Językowym. Sytuacja zmieniła się z chwilą, kiedy pojawiła się rzeczywista potrzeba jej wykorzystania, a mianowicie konieczność zapewnienia krótkoterminowych zastępstw, czasem dosłownie z dnia na dzień. Okazało się, że można w tym celu ‘zaprząc’ Pegaza, czyli naszą uniwersytecką platformę edukacyjną. Od tego czasu minął rok i Pegaz znakomicie się sprawdza. Wydaje się, że nie tracą na tym również nasi studenci. Artykuł ma na celu opisanie jak udało się nam zamienić mało wykorzystywaną platformę w bardzo przydatne narzędzie, z którego korzystamy na co dzień w naszym centrum językowym.

The article discusses legal aspects of managing e-learning platforms in schools and universities. The authors focus on legal regulations of personal data protection in e-learning platforms in Poland. In most cases e-learning platforms are managed by network administrators who are not aware of legal regulations which they should follow. To the best of our knowledge one can find a variety of publications concerning technical and administrative aspects of e-learning platforms but no analysis has been performed concerning legal aspects of deploying and managing e-learning platforms. In this article we indicate the most important issues which e-learning platform administrators should be aware of.

W latach 2011-2012 realizowany był na Wydziale Elektrotechniki i Informatyki (WEiI) Politechniki Lubelskiej projekt POKL „Absolwent na miarę czasu” skierowany do studentów studiów magisterskich kierunku Informatyka. Wśród celów realizowanego projektu ważne miejsce zajmuje utworzona platforma e-learningowa. W niniejszym artykule omówiono obecny stan wykorzystania platformy, zaprezentowano wyniki badań przeprowadzonych wśród studentów dotyczących: poziomu wiedzy studentów o nauczaniu na odległość, oceny stworzonej platformy oraz przydatności materiałów na niej umieszczonych.

In 2011-2012 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science the project called "Graduate of our time" aimed for students of Master studies in Computer Science is realized. One of the most important objectives of the project is implementation of e-learning platform. The article discusses the current state of the use of the platform, presents the results of the survey conducted among students regarding: the level of students’ knowledge of distance learning, assessment of created platform as well as assessment developed learning resources.

TeleEdu™ e-learning environment provides tools which are not available on other educational platforms. One of them is the possibility of creation of sophisticated tests, including those imitating oral exams, with all their characteristics and complexity. The paper presents the elements of testing strategy in the case of test concerning basis of computer science, developed in Warsaw Institute of Mathematical Machines as a part of a greater project supported by EU funds.

Automatyczna adaptacja narzędzi e-learningowych do wymagań poszczególnych użytkowników VLE (Virtual learning environment) wspomaga proces dydaktyczny. Adaptacja następuje podczas poznawania oraz analizy informacji zebranych w trakcie sesji z użytkownikiem. Analizie podlega bogata gama informacji. Celem artykułu jest zdefiniowanie wybranych danych statystycznych, przekazywanych przez system, do odpowiednich algorytmów analizy. Zaprezentowano koncepcję Kolektora i Analizatora. Wskazane zostały wybrane elementy, dzięki którym każdy system e-learningowy może stać się bezpieczniejszy oraz bardziej efektywny dla kursantów. W wyniku przetworzenia zebranych informacji można uzyskać specyficzne dla konkretnego użytkownika zachowania platformy e-learningowej, wspomagające indywidualny proces nauczania. Opisane rozwiązania definiują założenia do projektu systemu, który dla różnych kursów internetowych dla tego samego użytkownika może określić różne środowiska pracy. Dane są zbierane z wykorzystanie platformy Moodle.

Automatic adaptation of e-learning tools to VLE (Virtual learning environment) users' needs supports teaching/learning process. Adaptation takes place during the process of analysis of data gathered when e-platform user session has been established. Wide range of information must be analyzed. The aim of this paper is to define selected statistic data which, later on, will be treated by analysis algorithms. Collector and Analysator subsystems are introduced. Thanks to gathered data the e-learning system might become more secure and more efficient. The data can reorganize many independent VLE for one user which will lead to more individual teaching/learning. Proposed solutions define fundamental assumption of the project which uses Moodle platform an e-learning VLE.

W pracy przedstawiono rozproszone środowiska e-learningo-we. Dokonano porównania właściwości platform rozproszonych i scentralizowanych. Platformy rozproszone mogą o wiele bardziej skutecznie kształtować indywidualny profil nauczania i dostosowywać program nauczania do możliwości oraz potrzeb studentów. Mogą przekształcać się w indywidualne platformy e-learnigu. Środowiska rozproszone najlepiej implementować z wykorzystaniem technologii agentowych. Zaproponowano model warstwowy dla takiego rozwiązania.

Distributed e-learning environments has been presented in this paper. There was made a comparison of properties both distributed and centralized platforms. Distributed platforms can shape an individual learning profile and fit it to student possibilities and needs more effective than centralized systems. They can transform to Individual e-learning Platforms. The best way to implement distributed environments is to use agent technologies. There was proposed a layers model for this solution.

Celem artykułu jest ocena możliwości funkcjonalnych platformy open source Moodle w zakresie wykonywania adaptowalnych kursów elektronicznych, opracowanych za pomocą narzędzi autorskich dostępnych na platformie. Kursy adaptowalne umożliwiają dostosowanie procesu nauczania do możliwości szkolonego, jego początkowego stanu wiedzy, postępów, preferencji i potrzeb. Kursy takie wpływają na zwiększenie skuteczności procesu szkolenia i są obecnie ważnym kierunkiem rozwoju e-learningu. Artykuł obejmuje porównanie tych możliwości z funkcjonalnością rozwijanej w Instytucie Maszyn Matematycznych technologii TeleEdu™.

The aim of the article is to analyse open source Moodle platform with respect to ability to develop adaptive e-courses, using built-in authoring tools. Adaptive e-courses just adapt learning process to students' abilities, their starting level of competence, progress in studies, their needs and expectations. Thus they increase the effectiveness of learning. Adaptive courses have essential significance in contemporary trends of e-learning. The paper covers also the comparison of Moodle platform with relative abilities of TeleEdu™ - a technology created and developed in Warsaw Institute of Mathematical Machines.
