Influence of Fibre Arrangement on the Buckling Load of Composite Plates - Analytical Solution

This paper deals with the problem of the influence of the angular arrangement of laminas on the buckling force of rectangular composite plates. The article presents a general, simple analytical method of buckling load determination and finding the best arrangement in terms of the highest stiffness in the prebuckling state. Some special characteristic cases of arrangements in an eight layered GFRP laminate are assumed, and buckling force as a function of the arrangement is investigated by finding proper maxima. Results for some characteristic lay-ups are compared with FEM and results found in literature.

Prezentowany artykuł porusza zagadnienie wpływu ułożenia kątowego warstw w kompozytach włóknistych na siły krytyczne prostokątnych płyt kompozytowych. Zaprezentowana jest ogólna i prosta metoda określania sił krytycznych. Rozpatrzono kilka charakterystycznych ułożeń kątowych, traktując kąt jako wielkość zmienną. Obliczenia numeryczne zostały przeprowadzone dla ośmiowarstwowych laminatów symetrycznych wykonanych z włókna szklanego w osnowie z żywicy epoksydowej. Wyniki uzyskane metodami analitycznymi zostały porównane z wynikami otrzymanymi przy pomocy Metody Elementów Skończonych lub zaprezentowanymi w literaturze.

The topic of the consideration is a freely supported rectangular bridge plate. The aim of analyses is to determine the dynamic deflections, internal forces and couples. The plate material is concrete, characterized by isotropy, homogeneity and viscoelastic properties corresponding to Zener's model. Kirchhoff's classical plate theory has been assumed. The solution of the problem is obtained by Carson's transformation on timeless parameter τ and expanding the sought for functions into trigonometric Fourier series. Their originals are found by a new JMG's method based on residue theorem. Figure of numerically analyzed displacements Green function as an example is included.
