The outer layer of pin-on-disk was modified by galvanic covering of the disc with copper and zinc. The tribological tests were performed using T-01M machine (Szczerek, 1997). The tested surfaces were characterized by roughness and composition of outer layers. After the test, which lasted for 3600s (the distance: 360m), significant wear was noticed. For copper it reached about 10mm and about 20mm for zinc. On the basis of changes in topography of surfaces one can conclude that in the case of copper adhesive wear was dominant, while for zinc - abrasive. The performed Roentgen tests show that copper (or zinc) transfer from the disc to the pin occurs as the result of friction.
