Artykuł porusza zagadnienie posadowienia nasypu komunikacyjnego na palach w warunkach słabonośnego podłoża. Przestawia formuły i wzory do projektowania grupy pali. Opisuje problemy, na które należy zwrócić uwagę przy sprawdzaniu stanów granicznych nośności i użytkowalności.

The article discusses the issue of founding piled embankment on soft soil. The paper presents formulas for the design of a pile group. Problems that should be considered when checking the ultimate and serviceability limit states are described.

3D numerical simulation of flow field around twin piles

In this study to identify the flow pattern and local scour mechanism around pile groups, the flow field was simulated using FLOW-3D software. A pair of pile on a flat-bed channel with side by side and tandem arrangements was investigated. To establish Navier–Stokes equations, the RNGk-ε turbulence model was used and the results were verified using experimental data. In case of FLOW-3D capability, it was found that the software was able to properly simulate the expected interaction between the pile groups. The results of flow field simulation showed that Reynolds number and the pile spacing are the most influential variables in forming vortices. The flow around tandem pile and the downward flow around wake vortices were more intense and complicate in comparison with side by side arrangements and single pile.

Zwrócono uwagę na znaczenie oceny osiadania pali w grupie w poprawnym projektowaniu fundamentu oraz całej konstrukcji. Omówiono czynniki wpływające na opis pracy pala w grupie. Przedstawiono wpływ obliczeń osiadania pali na obliczenia statyczne fundamentu palowego.

The significance of assessment of group piles settlement for the correct design of the foundation and whole construction is emphasised. Factors influencing the description of pile behaviour in pile group are discussed. The settlement calculation influence on the structural design of pile foundation are presented.
