The purpose of this paper is to present the edge delamination effects of a piezoactuator used for active vibration damping of a simply supported beam. The delamination is modeled by altering the effective length of actuator debonded at its edge. The dynamic coupling between the actuator and beam is determined by considering longitudinal inertia of the actuator and by taking into account shearing stiffness of the adhesive material layer. The numerical results prove the influence of delamination on the beam and actuator strain distributions. The delamination effect on the amplitude-frequency characteristic calculated for the actively damped beam has also been analysed and presented on diagrams.
