Modern-day threats for believers comprise: fires, destruction of churches as a result of natural phenomena and natural disasters, detection of ammunition left from World War II, terrorist hazards and notifications on the destruction of churches and many others. Hazards may arise during the presence of believers and clergy in churches, cloisters, during mass religious events, pilgrimages etc. Consequently every person is obliged to become aware of hazards and to be able to rescue oneself and the others. An example of four biggest churches in Lviv presents measures undertaken to assure security to the believers, along with those which had not been deployed yet.

Współczesne zagrożenia dla wierzących obejmują: pożary, zniszczenie świątyń na skutek zjawisk naturalnych i klęsk żywiołowych, wykrywanie amunicji z II Wojny Światowej, zagrożenia terrorystyczne oraz zawiadomienia o zniszczeniach świątyń i wiele innych. Niebezpieczeństwa mogą powstać podczas pobytu wierzących i duchowieństwa w świątyniach, klasztorach, podczas masowych wydarzeń religijnych, pielgrzymek itp. Dlatego obowiązkiem każdej osoby jest uświadomienie sobie niebezpieczeństw oraz umiejętność uratować siebie i innych. Przykład czterech największych świątyń we Lwowie pokazuje środki podjęte w celu zapewnienia bezpieczeństwa wierzącym, a także te, które jeszcze nie zostały wdrożone.

The study presents pilgrimage sites located in environmentally valuable areas – the areas subject to two forms of nature protection in Poland, i.e. national parks and natural landscape parks. The purpose of the paper is to present, in quantitative terms, shrines in the protected areas of Poland and to analyse the scale and forms of tourism relating to these sites. The subject of the research includes only shrines of the Roman Catholic Church. A descriptive-analytic method, a dynamic-comparative method, as well as statistical methods were used to present the study results. Over 70 of more than 830 shrines that operate in Poland nowadays are located in areas of nature protected by legislation. At present, in the area of nine Polish national parks, there are twelve shrines and pilgrimage sites that are frequently visited by pilgrims and tourists traveling for religious or religious and cognitive reasons. Nowadays, in the area of Polish natural landscape parks (with buffer zones), there are more than 60 shrines.

Artykuł prezentuje różne aspekty powstania i funkcjonowania kilku spośród licznych miejsc kultu religijnego w Ziemi Świętej oraz ich obecne znaczenie. Obszar ten można bowiem uznać za jedno z tych miejsc na świecie, które są nasycone ogromnym bogactwem duchowym i świętością. Jak przekazują karty Biblii, ziemia ta została w szczególny sposób wybrana przez Boga, a następnie uświęcona poprzez wydarzenia fundamentalne dla zbawienia świata. W poniższym opracowaniu, Ziemia Święta jest traktowana jako tereny życia i działalności Chrystusa i obejmuje współczesny Izrael. Autorka skupia się zasadniczo na miejscach świętych judaizmu i chrześcijaństwa, ale wskazuje też ich powiązania i wartość dla innych religii. W artykule zostały przedstawione przykłady zarówno elementów natury, które poprzez swoją wyjątkowość pozwalają odczuć pierwiastek metafizyczny, jak i obiektów sakralnych, stworzonych przez człowieka. Wszystkie te miejsca, będąc świadkami objawień Boga narodowi wybranemu lub upamiętniając zbawcze zdarzenia związane z Jezusem Chrystusem są powszechnie otaczane czcią.

The article presents some aspects of creating and functioning as well as the present role of a few of numerous sacred places in the Holy Land. This area can be perceived as one of the very special region in the world – repleted with enormous spiritual richness and sanctity. According to the Bible, this land was chosen by God Himself for a special purpose and then sanctified by Him thanks to events fundamental for salvation of the world. In the paper, the Holy Land itself is considered as the area where Jesus Christ lived and it covers the area of Israel in the present times. The author focus on the sanctuaries of Judaism and Christianity but she also emphasizes their relations and importance for other religions. In the article, both elements of nature and sacred objects, created by a man are shown. Thanks to the majesty, splendor and diversity, all those places let to feel metaphysical character of the Holy Land. They are witnesses of revelation of God or memorials of the acts of salvation connected with Jesus Christ. Therefore, they have become places of broad religious veneration.

Tourism centered on pilgrimages to religious sites in Slovakia, the target groups being individuals, family, youth seniors, etc., promotes the spiritual, cultural and educational growth of those who partake of it. But, more importantly, this trade in tourism promotes the regional economy in terms of tourism thereby promoting the growth of the whole country. The objective of this paper is to examine pilgrimage sites, highlight their importance with regards to ecumenical, cultural and economic aspects.

Turystyka obecnie koncentruje się na pielgrzymkach do miejsc kultu religijnego na Słowacji, grupami docelowymi są osoby, rodziny, młodzież, seniorzy itp., promuje duchowy, kulturalny i edukacyjny rozwój tych, którzy stanowią części tych grup. Ale co ważniejsze, handel w turystyce promuje regionalną gospodarkę w zakresie turystyki a co za tym idzie, promuje w ten sposób rozwój całego kraju. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest zbadanie miejsc pielgrzymkowych, podkreślenie ich znaczenia w odniesieniu do aspektów ekumenicznych, kulturowych i ekonomicznych.

Romana Czajki.

The paper describes a project aiming at the revitalisation of the pilgrimage-monastery complex in Trzebnica. The historical study, the analysis of the urban planning, the analysis of the current development plan as well as the proposal of a new development plan have all been carried out as an element of an MA thesis written under the supervision of assistant professor Roman Czajka at the Department of Architecture at the University of Technology in Wrocław.

Osiem pielgrzymek papieża Jana Pawła II do Ojczyzny tworzy historię ponad siedemdziesięciu polowych kościołów i ich ołtarzy, które stanowiły tło celebry, swoistą scenografię i oprawę tych historycznych spotkań. Obiekty te były nie tylko znakiem czasu, chwilowym symbolem kilkugodzinnego sacrum. Z założenia przeznaczone do krótkotrwałego "użytkowania" stały się narodowymi pomnikami burzliwych czasów, relikwiami chwil, które warto zachować w pamięci. Istota tej pomnikowości tkwi w uniwersalnym przesłaniu owej architektury protestującej, która sięgała po symbole zrozumiałe i przemawiające do mas. Choć kruche w swej materii, uwiecznione na setkach fotografii i w ludzkiej świadomości, zyskały drugie życie, życie ponad czasem. Większość ołtarzy już nie istnieje. Pozostały z nich fragmenty rozsiane po wielu miejscach w Polsce. Owe architektoniczne pamiątki nabierają szczególnego znaczenia, stając się w wielu wypadkach miejscem celowego pielgrzymowania.

Eight pilgrimages of the Pope, John Paul II, to his Homeland make the history of over seventy field churches and their altars which formed the background for celebration, a unique stage design and the frame for those historic meetings. Not only were these structures marks of time but also a transient symbol of a few-hour-long sa-crum. Designed, in its creation, for a short-lived "use" they have become national monuments of stormy times, relics of moments worth remembering. The essence of this monumentality lies in the universal message of that architecture of protest which drew on symbols understood by and speaking to the masses. Although fragile in the material, they have, immortalized by hundreds of photographs and in human mind, gained a second life, life beyond time. Most of the altars are no longer there. There have remained fragments scattered in numerous places all over Poland. These remains are gaining a special meaning and become, in many cases, sites of intentional pilgrimages.
