This qualitative study of the soils of the Zaër region is part of a context of good development, preservation and sustainability of agricultural soils. Its aim is to establish a reference framework for the physico-chemical characteristics of the region’s agricultural soils. It was based on a spring sampling campaign carried out in 2021. Composite samples taken from thirteen sites with diverse soils were analysed in the laboratory. The soil analysis results were compared with reference values. The soils examined were moderately acidic to moderately alkaline, with low levels of organic matter. Nevertheless, concentrations of exchangeable calcium and magnesium were found to be sufficient, while sodium levels were very low. Furthermore, cation exchange capacity was low in spring, reflecting the soil’s high and low nutrient retention capacity respectively. Phosphorus and potassium levels appear to be low. In the light of these results, the use of organic and mineral fertilisers and calcium amendments is strongly recommended to improve agricultural quality and productivity in the region studied.

The quality and quantity of water throughout history have been an important factor in determining human wellbeing. Many types of pollution threaten rivers, including aquatic organisms, pesticides, soil erosion, chemical fertilisers and industrial pollutants. An extraordinary asset for our country is the natural waters where their quality is particularly important from a chemical point of view. From the studies carried out so far on the quality of natural waters, there are shortcomings mainly related to the limited number of physical-chemical parameters measured as well as to the water resources being processed. As for consumption, the quality of water is of great importance, and the purpose of this work is the analysis of water quality in the Aqueduct, which is of great importance for all residents who are supplied by this Aqueduct. The basic substance of life is water, therefore it is necessary to determine the quality of drinking water in the water supply network through physical-chemical and organoleptic parameters. The analysis of water in the water supply network was done before and after processing every four hours during the day and three days in a row. The obtained results show the condition and quality of raw water and processed water used by consumers, whereas a reference basis they are taken from Directive 98/83/EC for the quality of water for human consumption. From the results, we came to the conclusion that the water analyzed after processing is of sufficient quality to be used as drinking water.

Przedstawiono wyniki analizy fizyczno-chemicznej i faunistycznej 132 prób glebowych z różnych rejonów Polski. W próbach glebowych oznaczono skład granulometryczny metodą areometryczną Casagrande’a w modyfikacji Prószyńskiego, całkowitą zawartość ołowiu metodą płomieniowej absorpcyjnej spektrometrii atomowej (FAAS) oraz odczyn gleby metodą potencjometryczną. Analizy właściwości biologicznych badanych prób glebowych dotyczyły obecności nicieni owadobójczych. Wykazano, że większość gleb zawierała niewielką ilość ołowiu i w nich zanotowano najwięcej naturalnych populacji pożytecznych nicieni. Słabe i średnie zanieczyszczenie ołowiem zanotowano głównie w glebach na terenach Górnego Śląska i w tych glebach nie zaobserwowano omawianych organizmów. Skład granulometryczny badanych gleb to w większości piaski słabogliniaste i gliniaste oraz gliny piaszczyste i lekkie wykazujące odczyn od kwaśnego do obojętnego.

A granulometric compn. and pH of soil, Pb content, and presence of insecticidal nematodes were analyzed in 132 soil samples from various regions in Poland. The majority of soil samples contained only small amts. of Pb and natural populations of beneficial nematodes. In the samples with high Pb content, no presence of the nematodes was obsd.
