Kumaryna to jeden z najpopularniejszych związków organicznych w wyrobach perfumeryjnych nadający im delikatny zapach siana ze słodką nutą migdałów. To pierwotne źródło nowoczesnej perfumerii, które pozwoliło perfumiarzom odciąć się od przeszłości i zwrócić oczy w stronę nowoczesnej abstrakcji. Po raz pierwszy została wykorzystana w przełomowym Fougère Royale (Houbigant), który to zapach całkowicie zrewolucjonizował świat perfum i wyznaczył nowe kierunki we współczesnej perfumerii. Kumaryna to niezwykła molekuła o wielu obliczach. Jest podstawowym materiałem w przemyśle perfumeryjnym, znajdziemy ją w wielu produktach do ciała i kosmetykach. Jej liczne naturalne i syntetyczne pochodne posiadają natomiast właściwości antyoksydacyjne, antykoagulacyjne, przeciwzapalne, antybakteryjne, antygrzybiczne, a nawet anty-HIV, czy antynowotworowe. W niniejszym artykule przedstawimy krótką charakterystykę kumaryny, jej zastosowanie w medycynie i przemyśle kosmetycznym.

Coumarin is one of the most popular organic compounds in perfumery, giving them a delicate scent of hay with a sweet hint of almonds. It is the original source of modern perfumery, which has allowed perfumers to cut themselves off from the past and turn their eyes towards modern abstraction. It was first used in the groundbreaking Fougère Royale (Houbigant), a fragrance that completely revolutionized the world of perfumes and set new directions in contemporary perfumery. Coumarin is an unusual molecule with many faces. It is a staple material in the perfume industry and can be found in many body products and cosmetics. Its numerous natural and synthetic derivatives have antioxidant, anticoagulant, antiinflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, and even anti-HIV or anti-cancer properties. In this article, we will present a brief description of coumarin, its use in medicine and the cosmetics industry.

Perfumes are generally used to enhance the attitude of the person. Deodorants and perfumes are designed to be applied directly to the skin. Some people with sensitive skin may find that their skin does get irritated if they use too much perfume and hence apply perfume directly to their clothes. Silk is one of the most luxurious fabrics and is used on all occasions. If perfume is applied directly on fabric, it may cause a stain or discoloration and may spoil a costly garment. Although there is a study on the effect of perfume on cotton fabrics, there is no study about the effect of perfume on silk fabrics in the literature. Therefore this study aims to investigate the effects of perfume on dyed silk fabrics and is the first work on this subject. Mechanical properties like tensile strength, pilling and abrasion resistance were investigated, and the change in colour under washing, dry cleaning and perspiration were recorded.

Dezodoranty i perfumy przeznaczone są do nakładania bezpośrednio na skórę, jednakże niektóre osoby o wrażliwej skórze mogą uznać, że ich skóra jest podrażniona, jeśli używają zbyt dużo perfum, a więc nakładają perfumy bezpośrednio na swoje ubrania. Jeśli perfumy zostaną nałożone bezpośrednio na tkaninę, może to spowodować plamę lub odbarwienie prowadząc do zniszczenia odzieży. Chociaż w literaturze natrafić można na badania dotyczące wpływu perfum na tkaniny bawełniane, nie odnotowano dotychczas badań dotyczących wpływu perfum na tkaniny jedwabne. Badano wpływ perfum na właściwości mechaniczne tkanin jedwabnych, takich jak: wytrzymałość na rozciąganie, pilling i odporność na ścieranie, oraz rejestrowano zmianę koloru na skutek prania, czyszczenia chemicznego i pocenia.
