W artykule postawiono pytanie, dlaczego architekci w XIX wieku zdołali tak skutecznie sprostać wyzwaniu bezprecedensowej rozbudowy głównych miast europejskich. Porównano ich osiągnięcia do niedoskonałych przedsięwzięć architektów XX wieku. Tekst sugeruje, że XX-wieczna edukacja architektoniczna nie przygotowała twórców do zadań, jakie nakłada na nich przyszłość.

The article raises the question why the architects of the 19th century so successfully faced the challenge of the unprecedented enlargement of the main European cities and compares their achievements to the poor performances of the twenty century architects. The article suggests that the 20th century architecture education had not prepared the architects for the future task.

Współczesne układy elektryczne często są zasilane ze źródeł napięcia odkształconego pochodzącego z przekształtników energoelektronicznych. Artykuł jest opisem pracy pewnego nowego układu trójfazowego kaskadowego falownika napięcia z trójfazowym transformatorem, jako źródła napięcia bez wyższych harmonicznych do rzędu 10 włącznie, lub w wersji rozbudowanej bez harmonicznych do rzędu 22, na podstawie analizy z wykorzystaniem pojęcia wektora przestrzennego. Źródło trójfazowego napięcia o takiej jakości napięcia jest wystarczające do zasilenia obwodów pomocniczych prądu przemiennego pojazdu trakcyjnego, jak i może zasilać sieć autonomiczną, w tym silniki indukcyjne.

The article presents the scope of pressure transducers application for the j individual rail vehicles with division into locomotives, wagons and traction 7 units. The description of pressure cylinder transducer designed and produced by the Rail Vehicles Institute A „TABOR" is presented. The individual components of its construction are w characterized and the ones are selected that have a significant impact selected that have a significant impact on the changing of operation parameters of the pressure transducer. The current criteria for the operation parameters of the pressure cylinder transducer are given. The selected results of studies, that consisted in determining the impact of spring parameters on the changing of hysteresis value and the correctness of pressure transducers operation, are presented. The hysteresis value is assessed with the dimensionless quantity called the transducer efficiency analyzing the courses of pressures during braking and releasing as well as the gradual braking realizing by the pressure transducer. The paper presents the test stand, where the relevant courses pressure values were set according to the control algorithm designed specially for this purpose with using the microprocessor control system.

In-flight tests and measurements are usually performed for newly built or modernised aircraft utilised by the Polish Armed Forces. In the course of the in-flight tests the airborne equipment is investigated also. The main goal of the performed tests is to verify the tactical performance and to identify the technical parameters of the investigated aircraft or equipment. New aeronautical designs are subjected to flight test prior to being introduced into production and service. It is why ITWL was involved in both functional tests of equipment /systems installed on-board of helicopters as well as tests intended to determine flying qualities and performance thereof. Numerous test flights have been carried out in conformance to the newly developed methodology that takes account of the Joint Airworthiness Requirements - JAR 29 - Large Rotorcraft. Helicopter flight data and control parameters have been recorded in the course of experimental test flights by means of the measuring and recording equipment. The post-flight analyses of the recorded data made it possible to assess longitudinal static stability and directional stability, manoeuvrability and agility as well as performances of the upgraded helicopter Mi-17-IV.

The performance of cellular manufacturing (CM) is conditioned by disruptive events, such as failure of machines, which randomly occur and penalize the performance of the cells and disturb seriously the smooth working of the factory. To overcome the problems caused by the breakdowns, we develop a solution, based on the principle of virtual cell (VC) and the notion of intercellular transfer that can improve performances of the system. In this context, we use an analytical method based on Markov chains to model the availability of the cell. The found results are validated using simulation. The proposed solution in this paper confirmed that it is possible to reduce the severity of breakdowns in the CM system and improve the performances of the cells through an intercellular transfer. Simulation allowed a validation of the analytical model and showed the contribution of the suggested solution.

This paper analyses and evaluates the dynamic speed characteristics calculated from the timed values of the acceleration of 2 cars fuelled in by petrol and liquefied LPG gas. One of the two cars was factory fitted with a carburettor, the other one was factory fitted with a multipoint injection system. Both cars were then fitted with put-on type LPG gas fuelling systems. The impact of the fuel type on the curves of torque generated by the engine in dynamic conditions and their reference to speed characteristics for steady operational conditions. The schema of a gas fuelled system for a car with carburettor petrol system and the schema of gas fuelled system for a car with an engine with multipoint petrol injection is presented in the paper. Test results involve variability of torques generated by the engine of the car with carburettor power supply petrol in the function of the rotational speed at accelerating the motion on IV and V gear, and the variability torques generated by the engine of the car supplied of MPI in the function of the rotational speed at accelerating the motion on IV and V gear. Building of feed gas installation causes the essential decreasing of the engine power especially at higher rotational speeds for the car-supplied standard with the carburettor, whereat this decreasing applies both feed petrol as and gas. However building of the feed gas installation does not cause the essential change torque at feed petrol with the standard multipoint injection petrol MPI. But essential decreasing torque in dynamic conditions occurs at the gas feed.

Dla samochodu zasilanego standardowo gaźnikiem, zabudowanie instalacji zasilania gazem powoduje istotny spadek mocy szczególnie na wyższych prędkościach obrotowych, przy czym spadek ten dotyczy zarówno zasilania benzyną jak i gazem. Dla samochodu zasilanego standardowo wielopunktowym wtryskiem benzyny MPI zabudowanie układu zasilania gazem nie powoduje istotnej zmiany momentu obrotowego w przy zasilaniu benzyną natomiast występuje istotny spadek momentu obrotowego w warunkach dynamicznych przy zasilaniu gazem.
