This study builds on an existing structural model developed to examine the influence of leadership and organizational culture on innovation and satisfaction of engineers in Australian public sectors (APS). The objective of this study is to increase the understanding of innovation process with a focus on causal relationships among critical factors. To achieve this objective, the study develops an assessment approach to help predict creativity and work meaningfulness of engineers in the APS. Three quantitative analysis methods were sequentially conducted in this study including correlation analysis, path analysis, and Bayesian networks. A correlation analysis was conducted to pinpoint the strong association between key factors studied. Subsequently, path analysis was employed to identify critical pathways which were accordingly used as a structure to develop Bayesian networks. The findings of the study revealed practical strategies for promoting (1) transformational leadership and (2) innovative culture in public sector organizations since these two factors were found to be key drivers for individual creativity and work meaningfulness of their engineers. This integrated approach may be used as a decision support tool for managing the innovation process for engineers in the public sectors.

The work is based on results of hourly measurements of the particles PM10 and PM2.5 as well as 24-h measurements of meteorological elements in Siedlce. Analysis spanned the years 2012-2016. Based on the Polish Index of Air Quality developed by the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection (GIOŚ), there were determined numbers of days in six air quality classes. Analysis of the effect of meteorological conditions on particulate matter content in the air was based on 24-h concentrations of PM10 and PM2.5 exceeding the standard value of 50 µg/m3 for PM10 and 25 µg/m3 for PM2.5. Variation in the excessive concentrations in weather conditions described by means of air temperature, air humidity, wind direction and speed was assessed by means of Wright path analysis. Satisfactory, poor and very poor air quality was recorded in winter only. Path analysis revealed that variation in pollution is affected by wind speed and direction as well as air temperature. Increased concentrations of particulate matter were found mainly on days with low wind speed and low air temperature.

Zmienność ponadnormatywnych stężeń w warunkach pogodowych opisanych temperaturą powietrza, wilgotnością powietrza, kierunkiem i prędkością wiatru oceniono przy zastosowaniu analizy ścieżek Wrighta. Podwyższone stężenia pyłów zawieszonych notowano głównie w dniach z małą prędkością wiatru i niską temperaturą.

Introduction. Working long duty hours has often been associated with increased risk of incidents and accidents in transport industries. Despite this, information regarding the intermediate relationship between duty hours and incident risk is limited. This study aimed to test a work hours/incident model to identify the interplay of factors contributing to incidents within the aviation industry. Methods. Nine hundred and fifty-four European-registered commercial airline pilots completed a 30-item survey investigating self-report attitudes and experiences of fatigue. Path analysis was used to test the proposed model. Results. The fit indices indicated this to be a good fit model (χ2 = 11.066, df = 5, p = 0.05; Comparative Fit Index = 0.991; Normed Fit Index = 0.984; Tucker–Lewis Index = 0.962; Root Mean Square of Approximation = 0.036). Highly significant relationships were identified between duty hours and sleep disturbance (r = 0.18, p < 0.001), sleep disturbance and fatigue in the cockpit (r = 0.40, p < 0.001), and fatigue in the cockpit and microsleeps in the cockpit (r = 0.43, p < 0.001). Discussion. A critical pathway from duty hours through to self-reported incidents in flight was identified. Further investigation employing both objective and subjective measures of sleep and fatigue is needed.

Content available remote Path Analysis Model for Effective Load shedding
EN
In the present scenario, power system networks are operating very close to their limits. In order to prevent cascaded failures and eventually blackout, load shedding is used as a tool. There are many methodologies which discusses the effective ways for load shedding. In this work a new perspective is presented – path analysis. Path analysis is a technique under structured equation modelling which explains about dependent variable and independent variables. Here the output results are modelled and presented in path analysis, through which the significant variable which is crucial in determining the output can be identified. Correlation between crucial parameters which are having influence in output are also analysed.

W zaprezentowanym scenariuszu system energetyczny pracuje blisko swoich granicznych możliwości. W celu zapobieżenia kaskadowej awarii lub blackoutu przewidziano możliwość odcinania obciążeń. Jako metodę zaproponowano algorytm analizy ścieżki (path analysis). Analizowano korelację między strategicznymi parametrami.

This paper presents a novel method of evaluating semantic similarity by means of path analysis in RDF databases. Similarity is calculated by assignining each property (predicate in RDF terms) a weight, which is found using a genetic optimization algorithm. Presented method exhibits an advatage over existing methods, because of its flexibility and the fact that no prior knowledge of a particular database is necessary. This paper also presents an exemplary application of the method - recommendation engine. Proposed method is applied to a well known problem - music recommendation based on DBPedia. Results obtained in the experiment positively verify its advanntages and usefulness.

Content available remote AIS contribution in navigation operation- using AIS user satisfaction model
EN
AIS was introduced in 2002 and its phased implementation programme completed in 2004. Problems still exist in its reliable use for navigational operation. Our paper is part of a wider evaluation of AIS. This paper considers the users view of AIS and we have attempted to measure the extent of navigators’ satisfaction with AIS in their navigation activities by using an AIS User Satisfaction Model. This paper evaluates the validity of the AIS User Satisfaction Model using questionnaire data as a suitable structure for measuring the degree of navigators’ satisfaction and usage of AIS, and probably applies for other similar technologies. This, in turn, could help to determine the measures that need to be adopted in order to improve quality and use of AIS as an effective navigation and anti-collision tool.
