The driving force behind the development of each city is a society, which is why it is important that its people can live, work and relax in a friendly environment. The source of their well-being and positive aesthetic experience is a harmonious landscape, shaped by the functional spatial layouts of streets, blocks and buildings and accompanying elements of nature, providing a rational and ecological shaping urban space. An important element affecting the formation of the well-shaped urban space and green areas are urban and municipal forests, which strongly influence the appearance and the "aura" of the city and its attractiveness. A major challenge is the good management of these areas. This is important not only for environmental reasons, but also to ensure that, as expected by the local community quality of life, in a carefully composed landscape and friendly environment. An excellent tool for understanding of the needs of society is the survey. Thanks to planning, and installation space of the city, can take place in a well-chosen direction, giving optimum results and reliability of these solutions will enjoy the approval of members. The article presents research that was conducted in the area of Forest City in Olsztyn, in order to know the social preferences for the development of green forest located in urban areas.
