Various systems for exhaust gas recirculation on sinter belts are in place and operated on an industrial scale throughout the world. This article describes EOS, LEEP and EPOSINT systems as well as the selective exhaust gas recirculation system. Against a background of those systems the exhaust gas recirculation system developed in the Institute for Ferrous Metallurgy in Gliwice and implemented in a domestic sinter plant was presented. Regardless of the type of selected exhaust gas recirculation system, the main advantages resulting from using it are as follows: - reduction in amount of exhaust gases, while maintaining the efficiency and quality of sinter at constant level, - exhaust gas heat recovery, - reduction in amount of pollutions emitted when producing sinter, among other things due to partial desulphurisation of exhaust gases, - reduction in exhaust gas purification costs, reduction in heat consumption, and thus reduction in fly-ash consumption in sintering by afterburning of CO contained in exhaust gases.
