The article concerns on a methodological approach to design Rest and Service Areas. Because there is recorded steady growth in food cargo that require specific temperatures its resulting in an increase in demand for specialized transport. Transportation of food is usually done using vehicles equipped with refrigeration or heating. The article presents the design requirements for Rest and Service Areas (RSA), which is one of the most important elements of the road network, that condition affects the safety of drivers and cargo. Based on growth assumptions of effectiveness a functional model of RSA consisting five data bases and nine research tasks has been proposed. As a primary parameter studied in the model was the RSA effectiveness assessed by the rate of parking spaces utilization. The values of this index were estimated according to the share of traffic cars leave the motorway to the traffic flow of cars on the motorway. Evaluation of test results was based on the indicative comparative analysis of the existing and forecasted traffic flows of trucks with loads sensitive to the conditions and the time of their carriage. In the article pointed out that decisions taken in the course of modernization of the national RSA network should be reviewed and assessed through simulation studies of the transport process taking into account different boundary conditions, a risk analysis of transport depending on the type of transported cargo and analyze the efficiency and profitability of the national network creation of parking places adapted to specialized service of trucks carrying food cargo.

W referacie przedstawiono problemy dotyczące modelu systemu informacyjnego o bezpiecznych i chronionych miejscach parkingowych dla pojazdów ciężarowych, dostawczych oraz innych w Polsce. Potrzeba implementacji takiego systemu wynika z wymagań legislacji UE [1,2]. Aktualnie w Polsce brak jest takiego systemu, a nawet ograniczona jest liczba miejsc parkingowych. W referacie przedstawiono także wymagania funkcjonalne i techniczne dla systemu inforamcyjnego.

Paper refers some problems of information system model of safety and protected parking places or trucks, commercial and other vehicles in Poland. The need of implementation this kind of system is required by EU legislation. There is no actually mentioned kind of system and the number of parking places in Poland is limited either. Furthermore the functional and technical requirements of information system were presented.

Along with an intensive development of individual motorization in Poland in last twenty years, appeared the requirements of new widest ways, circular railroads and highways and accompanying them it more sizeable but through greatest car parks. Many of them was built in this period on new residential housing estates and at stations, administrative, business, sports objects or other services. Unfortunately, majority field of used surface car parks does not effect on esthetics of cultural landscape positively, but on the contrary, through lack of imagination of planner and technical bad condition, it effects on its picture negatively. Areas of car parks function as dull element of grey daily landscape in consciousness of inhabitants. They are treated as all its own necessary evil, forced by structure of object they are the back of communication for. Especially fields of oldest car parks presently spoil the landscape. Theirs picture requires indispensable correction and creative intervention of architect of landscape. Hereby article is dedicated to this question and especially to the possible and checked manners of improvement in the general picture of areas of back of vehicular traffic in existing context of cultural landscape. The existing condition, actual needs, according to obligatory capacity indicators and also chances on correcting the state of esthetics of parking objects are discussed in it. They are advisable a possibilities of harmonious composing parking surfaces to the public areas as well as analysis of methods improving the visual appearance of car parks by combination them with vegetable robe and application of ecological surfaces for example. Parking areas instead to disfigure the landscape can contribute to a positive image of it.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań nad zawartością metali ciężkich w roślinach rosnących w pobliżu tras komunikacyjnych ze Szczecina do Poznania oraz na łąkach, polach i trawnikach oddalonych 500-1000 metrów od tych tras. Rośliny dzielono na część nadziemną i korzeń. Więcej miedzi cynku i ołowiu gromadziło się w korzeniach, a manganu i żelaza w częściach nadziemnych. Zawartość metali ciężkich w roślinach zależała (za wyjątkiem manganu) od natężenia ruchu, co szczególnie silnie uwidoczniło się w przypadku cynku i ołowiu. Więcej żelaza, miedzi, cynku i ołowiu zgromadziły w większości rośliny dwuliścienne (mniszek lekarski i koniczyna biała), a manganu jednoliścienne (życica).

The paper presents the results on research of heavy metal concentration in weeds located close to motorways from Szczecin to Poznań and on the meadows, pastures and lawns about 500-1000 m from these motorways, The plants were partitioned for the overground part and the root. Most of the copper, zinc and manganese was cumulated in the roots and iron and lead in the overground part. Heavy metal concentration in plants depended (except manganese) in the intensity of road traffics and can especially be seen for zinc and lead. More iron, copper, zinc and lead were collected in dicots (Toraracum officinale F.H.W1GG, Tri/bJium repens L.) than in endogens (Lolium perenne L.).

Squares with parking places are inseparable spatial elements which co-create the landscape of big cities. Each city which concentrates a variety of public services, needs connectivity to parking places. Many characteristics such as the size of the place itself, introduced surface, lighting elements and most of all, appropriately chosen protective greenery decide if the parking place harmonizes well or badly with the landscape surrounding it. Apart from the decorative function it also plays the part of protection by minimalizing the negative sides of motorization. Most parking places in cities are situated in street-side parking areas. However, most terrain parking places in cities are concentrated on housing estates and squares of houses in streets. The larger sized car parks are situated near big shopping centers. Similar, but perhaps, not so big parking places are found adjacent to company buildings, offices and other establishments There are also big parking areas in cities near to railway or coach stations. In many cities parking places are built underground or in multi-storey buildings. Parking places for family cars, whilst perhaps not a city decoration, are a very distinctive and omnipresent accent of our epoque - time of motorization. Parking places can have a positive influence on a city's landscape as long as they are connected with an appropriate amount of decorative greenery. Aesthetics of parking places in Polish cities is very far from ideal. It can then become an interesting field for actions of creative landscape architects and communication architects.
