Macroinvertebrates of two ex-manor ponds located in Chroscina, Opole Region (Poland) were studied from 2015 to 2018 to investigate their community composition and diversity and evaluate the heterogeneity of communities on spatial and temporal scale referring to environmental variables and revitalisation work. A total of 32 taxa were recorded (at the family level, except Oligochaeta), 13 of which were Ephemeroptera, Odonata and Trichoptera, recognised as sensitive groups in lentic ecosystems. Macroinvertebrate richness and diversity varied considerably, especially in spring and summer. It was found that habitat heterogeneity influenced benthic invertebrates more than basic water parameters. However, the environmental variables together accounted for only 38 % of the observed variations. Thus, other factors, such as fish predation, may have played a leading role in community shaping. The distinct differences between pond communities, four years after the revitalisation works, resulted more from different habitat features than from the previous sediment removal.

Manor-house parks are an important part of natural and cultural landscape of Polish countryside. While sites designated as historical do enjoy an elevated “social” status, this does not always translate into its monetary market value. Own research shows large price discrepancies in property appraisal reports for the same real estate. The discrepancies were related to valuation of vegetation (Rosłon-Szeryńska, 2018). Even though there are many methods and techniques of appraisal (including: profit-, market-, cost-oriented or mixed) available in specific legal acts and standards, apprising vegetation is still problematic. The goal of this research is to evaluate reasons behind these glaring discrepancies in appraisal of manor-house and park complexes in rural communes. Research included an analysis of current market prices of 100 historical real estates comprised of a manor-house and a park from all over the country. Regression analysis proves that the share of park’s value in the overall historical real estate price is too low. This particularly applies to parks with an area of less than 5 ha.

Poznań, poszerzając swoje granice, wchłonął wiele majątków otaczających historyczne miasto. Związane z nimi założenia rezydencjonalno-parkowe w zróżnicowany sposób funkcjonują dzisiaj w przestrzeni i krajobrazie miasta. Część parków i ogrodów podworskich nadal istnieje, inne uległy degradacji. Należy zadać pytanie o ich dzisiejszą kondycję. Zapytać o problemy i możliwości ich wykorzystania, a także ich ochronę we współczesnym mieście.
