Today’s world is facing the necessity of reducing air pollution. One of the alternatives is to limit pollution related to road transport by using CNG fuel. The European Union is imposing increasingly strict requirements regarding the cleanness of car fumes, and the Polish government is endeavouring to take actions aimed at reducing the pollution related to car use by planning the development of transport electromobility. In this article, the authors want to draw attention to methane as an alternative to traditional fuels. The article presents the results of a survey conducted among drivers, which regarded their readiness to use CNG-powered cars. The results indicate that while respondents appreciate the ecological value of this fuel, they are also worried about safety, which is contradicted by the analysis of CNG advantages and disadvantages.

Emission of a dual-fuel thrbocharged compression ignition engine

The paper describes the results of a four-cylinder dual fuel turbocharged compression ignition engine. The aim of the study was to determine the maximum CNG share in thefuel mixture delivered into the cylinder. Analysis of the investigation results showed that the CNG energy share in the fuel charge delivered into the cylinder can reach 45%. At that level of CNG energy share a 15% reduction in maximum torque is achieved in comparison with the standard fuelling. The unburnt hydrocarbon emission increases significantly. Emissions of other principal pollutants reach values comparable with those obtained at standard fuelling.

W artykule opisano wyniki badań pełnogabarytowego dwupaliwowego czterocylindrowego turbodoładowanego silnika o zapłonie samoczynnym. Badania miały na celu ustalenie maksymalnego udziału paliwa CNG w mieszance dostarczanej do cylindra silnika. Analiza wyników badań wykazała, że udział energetyczny CNG w ładunku dostarczanym do cylindra może wynosić maksymalnie 45%. Przy takim poziomie udziału CNG uzyskuje się 15% zmniejszenie momentu maksymalnego w stosunku do zasilania fabrycznego. Znacznemu zwiększeniu ulega emisja niespalonych węglowodorów. Stężenia pozostałych głównych składników spalin osiągają wartości na poziomie emitowanym przez silnik zasilany fabrycznie.

W referacie omówiono rodzaje instalacji zasilania silnika sprężonym gazem ziemnym, które montowane są zarówno fabrycznie jak i w samochodach poddanych konwersji. Szybko postępujący rozwój tej technologii na świecie został omówiony na podstawie własnego taboru i samochodów jakimi dysponują klienci Stacji Tankowania Gazem mieszczącej się na terenie Mazowieckiej Spółki Gazownictwa Sp. Z O. O. Oddział Gazownia Warszawska. Samochodowe instalacje na CNG technicznie dorównały benzynowym układom zasilania silników. Użytkowanie pojazdów NGV wpływa mniej negatywnie na stan środowiska naturalnego niż konwencjonalnych paliw silnikowych. Gaz ziemny jest najbezpieczniejszym z dostępnych paliw na rynku, ma najwyższą pośród nich temperaturę samozapłonu i stanowi alternatywę do paliw ropopochodnych.

Some CNG equipments for brand - new and retrofit vehicles are presented in the paper. Fast development of CNG technology on the basis of Gas Fuel Filling of Mazowiecka Gas Engineering Company Ltd. Brunch of Warsaw Gas - Works experience is described. CNG ecquipments for vehicles are as good as licquid fuel equipnients. Maintenance of NGV brings about less negativelv on environment than maintenance of vehicles on conventional fuel. Nalural gas is the safest fuel with the highest self - ignition temperature and is good alternative to petroleumi fuels.
