Narażenie na kontakt z materią zawieszoną, zwaną potocznie pyłami, jest nieodzowną częścią życia wszystkich organizmów lądowych na kuli ziemskiej. Rozpatrywanie obecności materii zawieszonej w atmosferze bez uzupełnienia wiedzy o jej występowaniu w najbliższym otoczeniu, czyli w domu, pracy i biurze, przypomina rozpatrywanie zagadnień światowej gospodarki w oderwaniu od domowego budżetu.

The amount of the particulate matter entails a serious problem which more and more attention has been paid to. Therefore, many law regulations, such as fines have been introduced to citizens of the European Union. The main endangerment of this phenomena is a negative influence on our health condition. The fact that the concentration of the particulates in the atmosphere, especially within the vicinity of large-sized agglomerations, has been exceeded multiple times poses a serious threat to our society. However, home is the place where people are exposed to the harmful impact of the dust the most. This particular issue is the subject of the research paper. It shows the correlation between smoking tobacco and amount of dusts at home. Furthermore, collected data was compared with the government norms which allows the reader to realize the scale of the problem.
