At the present time minimization of the noise emission is an important issue. The most difficult is reducing source noise, but this is an important issue and must be considered in the design of future devices. Bionics is a novel approach to developing designs and products by taking inspiration from nature. Our studies about the aerodynamic noise of blades are inspired by owls. In this study the aeroacoustical parameters of wings the different species of owls were connect with their geometrical parameters. Thanks to this will be possible to design the “acoustically friendly” blade of fan.

Mercury concentration levels in kidneys of 46 individuals of 13 species of birds of prey have been determined. The greatest mean concentration of mercury in kidneys was found in White-tailed Eagle Haliaeetus albicilla 1.54 mg/kg d.m. however the maximum concentration of mercury in kidney was determined in a Eurasian Buzzards Buteo buteo: 4.54 mg/kg d.m. The level of mercury concentration in kidneys of young individuals of raptors was lesser than in adults. In the light of research carried out birds of prey feeding and hunting birds accumulated less mercury in their kidneys in comparison with species whose diet was based on small mammals. Birds of prey bound with the agricultural landscape of north-east Poland seem to accumulate more mercury in kidneys as compared with raptors who originate from other parts of Poland.

Lead concentration levels in skeletons of 57 individuals of 15 species of diurnal birds of prey and owls have been determined. The greatest mean concentration of lead in skeletons was exhibited by the Great Spotted Eagle Aquila clanga: 44.8 mg/kg (d.m.). In 23 individuals from 11 species the concentration of lead was determined at >10 mg/kg, which indicates elevated and potentially toxic, long-term exposure to lead over the lifetime of the bird. The highest percentage of individuals with lead levels of >10 mg/kg was established for: Great Spotted Eagle, Eurasian Buzzard Buteo buteo, Eurasian Marsh Harrier Circus aeruginosus and Rough-legged Buzzards Buteo lagopus. Raptors, who often use game animals as food resources show the highest determined lead concentration levels.

Zbadano poziomy stężeń ołowiu w szkieletach 57 osobników z 15 gatunków ptaków szponiastych i sów. Największy procent osobników przekraczających ten poziom skażenia ołowiem (>10 mg/kg) stwierdzono w przypadku orlika grubodziobego Aquila clanga, myszołowa Buteo buteo, błotniaka stawowego Circus aeruginosus i myszołowa włochatego Buteo lagopus. Drapieżniki, wykorzystujące zwierzynę łowną jako źródło pokarmu, wykazywały największe poziomy stężeń ołowiu w kościach.
