The existing methodology in estimating the efficiency of water wells is not based on the principles of optimizing well design and does not include maintenance costs during the life cycle of the well. It is proposed to use to use metric indicators as a tool following engineering requirements for durability, quality and guarantee of certinity. The parameters and the basic elements of the water well, the change of which has a decisive influence on the final cost of construction and operation.

The paper presents a simple technique which allows prediction of the behavior of the water table in a low pressure water well which doesn't flow to surface. Contrary to the type-curve method used for interpretation of "slug test" data, the permeability and skin are computed using a straight-line approximation. The slope of the straight line and its intersection with the ordinate axis are used to interpret the test data. The presented method is very simple and yields unique results. If the hydrostatic pressures are assumed oposite the water zone, the presented technique is suitable for interpretation of DST flow-period data. The derivation of the presented equations is available from the author.

Przedstawiono metodę dylatancyjnego torpedowania masywu skalnego dla zwiększenia wydajności otworów wodnych - nowych i długo eksploatowanych, na podstawie doświadczeń ukraińskich. Omówiono efekt fizyczny i metodykę dylatancyjnego torpedowania. Podkreślono zalety i ograniczenia metody w porównaniu do innych metod dla poprawy efektywności eksploatacji. Zestawiono wyniki uzyskane metodą w kilkudziesięciu otworach na Ukrainie, w Rosji, Litwie oraz w Chinach. Wskazano na możliwość wykorzystania metody w Polsce.

The method of dilatancy blasting in rock mass surrounding water-wells - new ones or long-term exploited has been introduced. In many cases of water wells there is a possibility of carrying out the well's reconstruction to get productivity increase. The one of the methods is dilatancy blasting with the help of special prepared torpedo. That method uses the effect of explosion wave acting on well's elements and surrounding rock mass. Some physical basis and methodology have been described in the paper. The dilatancy effect used in the method is based on the physical process going to produce some cracks in rock mass. The essential use of blasting technique is focused to get the field of shear stresses in the direction of discontinues or weak zones. It causes that the increase of permeability in surrounding rock mass is achieved. Usually, rock mass properties changes are observed in the distance of 70-80 times well's radius. It uses to expect 2.5-3 times more in productivity. In the text some advantages and limitations of the method were underlined comparing to other methods. The most of experience in using the method have been gathered from a few tens of wells placed on the territory of Ukraine and also Russia. Lithuania and China. The possibilities of using this method in Polish conditions have been pointed too.
