Coir fibre is a non-conventional fibre extracted from the husk of coconut fruit and is abundantly available in tropical countries. Coir yarn is produced in the decentralised cottage industry. Increase in the demand for the coir fibre yarns for value-added applications has forced the coir yarn manufacturers to improve the existing coir spinning machine in different ways. In this study, the working principle of the existing coir spinning machine has been studied from the perspective of further improvements in production rate, yarn quality and spinning performance. Modifications have been made in the existing coir spinning machine in fibre feeding, opening and cleaning. There is improvement in the production rate of up to 20% with significant improvements in the yarn quality and spinning performance.

The modernized and expanded „Czajka” plant is one of the largest state-of-the-art waste treatment plants in Europe. The technological process used in the plant has been met with acclaim of experts in Poland and abroad, and the water released by the plant into the Vistula River is cleaner than the river itself.

W projekcie i realizacji przebudowy dworca kolejowego Wroclaw Główny detal architektoniczny pełni funkcję dopełnienia głównej idei projektu, scala tereny kolejowe z miastem, otwiera budynek jako nowoczesną przestrzeń publiczną. Przywrócona zostaje pierwotna struktura i barwa detalu, historyczny dworzec odzyskuje swoją prawdziwą tożsamość. Detal współczesny nowy w swojej formie pozostaje tłem, pozwala wybić się na pierwszy plan detalowi historycznemu.

The architectural detail in the historical Wroclaw railway station refurbishment fulfills the main ideas of the design. It integrates railway area with the city center, opens the building for the public as a modern public space. The primary structure and the color of the detail is retrieved, the historical station recovers its genuine identity. New and modern detail remain in the background exposing the historical detail in the foreground.

Dokonano przeglądu operacji morfologii matematycznej najczęściej stosowanej w przetwarzaniu obrazów. Zademonstrowano również aplikację programową, wykorzystującą algorytm dekompozycji i detekcji obiektów obrazu oparty na jednej z operacji morfologicznych, zwanej "trafi nie trafi". Przedstawiono wyniki działania algorytmu, wskazując jednocześnie możliwości jego modyfikacji i potencjalne zastosowania. Ponadto poruszono ważną z punktu widzenia operacji morfologicznych, tematykę doboru odpowiedniego, dla określonej klasy obrazów, elementu strukturalnego.

An overview of the most frequently used mathematical morphology operations in image processing, such as has been described in the paper. Software application including algorithm of object recognition and decomposition based on "hit or miss" operation has also been demonstrated. The results of this algorithm and methods of its improvement and potential use have also been presented. Furthermore, an important issue from the point of view of morphological operations, the problem of choosing the optimal structural element for a defined class of images has been discussed.

W pracy przedstawiono optyczną metodę testowania topografii układów elektronicznych. Metoda ta wykorzystuje morfologię matematyczną. Zaproponowano algorytm testowania połączeń, który sprawdza wymaganą minimalną szerokość ścieżek. Przedstawiono przykłady i wnioski płynące z zastosowania tej metody.

The paper presents a visual method of testing the topography of electronic circuits. The method makes use of mathematical morphology techniques. The algorithm for the testing connection, which inspects minimum conductor traces width requirement is proposed. Some examples and conclusions coming from using this method are presented.
