The results of algorithmic approbation of the technique of polarization tomography digital histological study of the age of damageto the myocardium and lung tissue based on the polarization reconstruction of linear birefringence maps are presented. Relationships betweenthe temporal change in the magnitude of statistical moments of 1-4 orders characterizingthe distribution of the magnitude of the degree of crystallization of histological sections of the myocardium and lung tissue and the duration of damage were determined. Established time intervals and accuracyof determining the prescription of damage to the myocardium and lung tissue.

Przedstawiono wyniki algorytmicznej aprobaty techniki polaryzacyjnej tomografii cyfrowej histologicznego badania wieku uszkodzenia mięśnia sercowego i tkanki płucnej na podstawie rekonstrukcji polaryzacyjnej liniowych map dwójłomności. Określono zależnościpomiędzy czasową zmianą wartości momentów statystycznych 1-4 rzędów, charakteryzujących rozkład stopnia krystalizacji skrawków histologicznych tkanki mięśnia sercowego i płuc, a czasem trwania uszkodzeń. Ustalono przedziały czasowe i dokładność określaniapredykcji uszkodzenia mięśnia sercowego i tkanki płucnej.

The transmission characteristics for 85Rb and 87Rb laser-induced dichroism atomic filters operating on rubidium D1 lines (795 nm) transitions are analyzed. By means of semiclassical density matrix equations of motion, a three-level model for the transmission characteristics of the ground state laser-induced dichroism atomic filter is presented. Calculative results show that this filter, using two counterpropagating pump and probe beams, can obtain higher transmission, narrower bandwidth and larger tuning capability than that using two copropagating pump and probe beams; with the aid of counterpropagating pump, the 85Rb ground state laser-induced dichroism atomic filter can be more effective to achieve higher peak transmission (>34%) and larger tunability (>1 GHz) than the 87Rb ground state laser-induced dichroism atomic filter in the same operation parameters. This result may be helpful for improving peak transmission (14.6%) of Rb ground state laser-induced dichroism atomic filter reported (CERÈ A. et al., Opt. Lett. 34(7), 2009, pp. 1012–1014).

Przedstawiono pomiary i symulacje dla wykonanego światłowodu o prostokątnym przekroju, prostokątnej siatce płaszcza fotonicznego i eliptycznych elementach sieci. Przedyskutowano wpływ parametrów strukturalnych takich jak eliptyczność i stałe sieci prostokątnej siatki krystalicznej na własności modowe i dwójłomność światłowodu. Przedstawiono również jego zalety jako elementu mogącego znaleźć zastosowanie w pomiarach naprężeń, skrętu i tym podobnych wielkości.

In this paper we report on the fabrication of birefringent photonic crystal fiber with a photonic cladding composed of elliptical holes ordered in a rectangular lattice. We discuss the influence of structural parameters including the ellipticity of the air holes and the aspect ratio of the rectangular lattice on the birefringence and on the modal properties of the fiber potentially useful for sensors.

Compounds with moderate and large negative dielectric anisotropy (Δ ε ) are very attractive liquid crystal (LC) for vertical alignment mode (VA). Materials with such properties can be achieved by lateral substitution of a polar group into a mesogenic molecule. We synthesized some new LC materials with a negative value of Δ ε, a moderately high birefringence (Δ n), and a low viscosity. The mesomorphic and physical behaviour of the novel biphenyls, terphenyls and quaterphenyls fluorosubstituted in the rigid core and also with fluorinated alkyl and alkoxy chains are investigated. The prepared series of four LC compounds are promising for new LC mixtures for various applications. Examples of nematic mixtures with Δ ε ∼ -3.25 will be presented.
