Technology and disability. The enrichment of human rights

Our primary aim is to analyze the impacts of technology on people with disability. Persons with a disability can be encouraged to fully engage in society by using specific types of technology (medical devices that target particular limitations). Many experts argue that medical exoskeletons or wheelchairs with motorized stand-up function provide people with severe disabilities with new possibilities. Impact of these opportunities is enormous and they directly influence the quality of life. Philosophers Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum in their "capability approach" assume that any form of impact that enables a person to pursue what they deem as essential influences quality of their life. Similarly, Eva Feder Kittay (philosopher) argues that care for the elderly, disabled, or children is crucial for any society. These authors will provide a philosophical basis for our arguments for the enrichment of human rights through technology for persons with disabilities.

Realizowana w Pracowni Architektury Społeczno-Usługowej od lat metoda dydaktyczna polega na opracowywaniu projektów studialnych w małych miastach w celu zapoznania studentów ze specyfiką wprowadzania nowych form architektonicznych w zastane środowisko kulturowe. Cenne jest przy realizacji tego zadania nawiązywanie współpracy ze społecznościami lokalnymi i współpraca przy realizacji projektu – od sformułowania wytycznych projektowych i zaproponowania lokalizacji dla wybranego tematu, aż po organizację wystawy i ocenę przedstawionych przez studentów propozycji projektowych. Te studialne prace mogą mieć znaczenie przy podejmowaniu w przyszłości decyzji lokalizacji obiektów użyteczności publicznej i ich wpływu na strukturę przestrzenną miasta, a także sprzyjać zrównoważonemu rozwojowi i wzmocnieniu potencjału ekonomicznego. Dotychczas nawiązano współpracę i realizowano projekty z przedstawicielami Leżajska, Niepołomic oraz Wieliczki.

The methodology taught from years in the Chair of Social and Public Building Design has been invented to develop study projects in small towns to familiarize students with the specificity of introducing new architectural forms into the existing cultural environment. It is extremely valuable to cooperate with local communities and to work together during this project – formulation of design guidelines and proposing locations for the chosen topic, up to the organization of the exhibition and evaluation of the students design proposals. These studies may have gave an important implications for the city in future decisions regarding the location of public buildings and their impact on the spatial structure. They can also foster the sustainable development and strengthening the economic potential. So far, cooperation has been established with such cities as Leżajsk, Niepołomice and Wieliczka.

Ethics of healthcare workers acting as assisting profession representatives in a modern society

A healthcare worker is one of the most typical representatives of the so-called assisting professions, whose common objective is any form of assistance to individuals dependent on the provision of care by others. In this post, the author points to the fact that healthcare workers are confronted with the aforementioned phenomena on a daily basis. It lays stress on respect for the patient’s dignity at all times, and also provides guidance on the implementation of ethics in interaction between the healthcare workers and patients, because no human care would have been provided without this phenomenon.

Pracownik opieki zdrowotnej jest jednym z najbardziej typowych przedstawicieli tak zwanych zawodów wspomagających, których wspólnym celem jest każda forma pomocy osobom zależnym od świadczenia opieki przez innych. W artykule tym autorka wskazuje na fakt, że pracownicy służby zdrowia mają do czynienia z takimi zjawiskami na co dzień. To kładzie nacisk na poszanowanie godności pacjenta w każdym czasie, a także dostarcza wskazówek na temat wdrożenia etyki w interakcji między pracownikami służby zdrowia a pacjentami, ponieważ bez tego zjawiska opieką nie zostałby objęty żaden człowiek.

Wzrost świadomości pacjentów, ich potrzeb oraz oczekiwań dotyczących świadczeń zdrowotnych, w powiązaniu z nasilającą się konkurencją na rynku usług medycznych, sprawia, że utrzymanie się, przetrwanie i rozwój placówki lecznictwa zamkniętego zależy w dużej mierze od oferowanej przez nią logistyki zarządzania jakością. Celem niniejszej pracy było ukazanie rozwiązań logistycznych w ocenie poziomu satysfakcji pacjentów w Szpitalnych Oddziałach Ratunkowych. Badania zostały przeprowadzone w dwóch Szpitalnych Oddziałach Ratunkowych w Lublinie przy Samodzielnym Publicznym Szpitalu Klinicznym Nr 4 ul. Jaczewskiego 8 i Samodzielnym Publicznym Szpitalu Klinicznym Nr 1 ul. Staszica 16. Odpowiednia logistyka jakości jest warunkiem koniecznym w procesie diagnostyczno-terapeutycznym, ponieważ jakiekolwiek zaniedbania w tym obszarze prowadzą do zagrożenia wartości najwyższych: zdrowia i życia człowieka. Warto podkreślić także fakt, że jakość nie jest idealnym, raz osiągniętym stanem, lecz wyzwaniem, z którym konfrontują się codziennie wszyscy pracownicy, niezależnie od stanowiska zajmowanego w strukturze organizacyjnej. Świadomość tego faktu warunkuje rozwój i przetrwanie organizacji w warunkach istniejącej konkurencji.

Increased awareness of patients, their needs and expectations regarding health services, in conjunction with increasing competition in the market of medical services, makes perpetuation, for the survival and development of inpatient care facility depends largely on the logistics offered by its quality management. The aim of this study was to show logistics solutions in assessing the level of patients satisfaction in the Hospital Emergency Departments. The study was conducted in two Hospital Emergency Departments in Lublin nearby The Independent Public Clinical Hospital No. 4 street Jaczewskiego 8 and The Independent Public Clinical Hospital No. 1 street Staszica 16. Appropriate quality logistics is a necessary condition in the diagnostic and therapeutic process, because any negligence in this area lead to risk of the highest values: human life and health. It is worth noting the fact that the quality is not perfect, once reached state, but the challenge to confront on a daily basis all employees, regardless of their positions in the organizational structure. Awareness of this fact determines the organization development and survival in the conditions of the existing competition.

Przez 70 lat od zakończenia drugiej wojny światowej zaistniały w światowej architekturze i urbanistyce dwa etapy modernizmu, określane umownie na Zachodzie jako Modernizm 2 oraz 3. Były przedzielone tak zwanym późnym modernizmem, kontrkulturą 1968 roku oraz postmodernizmem. Zaistniała w tych okresach dehumanizacja miast, a następnie pojawiły się próby ich ponownej humanizacji. Dobro i piękno miast stanowi w tej sytuacji zagadnienie najwyższej wagi.

Throughout the 70 years since the end of World War II there were two stages of modernism in the global architecture and urbanism. In the West conventionally known as Modernism 2 and 3. They were separated by the so-called late modernism, counterculture of 1968, and postmodernism. During these periods the dehumanization of cities occurred and then there were attempts to re-humanize them. In this situation well-being and beauty of cities is the issue of the utmost importance.
