Purpose: Particular attention of this article will be given to a selected instrument of operational urban planning which has a French origin - Zone d'Amenagement Concerte_ZAC. The study of this instrument will be preceded by an introduction about the principles of operational urban planning and the system of tools among which the ZAC operates. Design/methodology/approach: The author based the article on the institutional and legal method - the analysis of the French legal regulations, literature and existing studies in the area of French operational urban planning, and in particular the selected planning tool-Zone d'Amenagement Concerte. Findings: The study reveals that France has an extensive set of tools, designed to support the development of the urbanized territory and protect spatial order. The research shows that there is no reason why similar operational tools could not be introduced in Poland. Originality/value: The operational planning instrument-Zone d'Amenagement Concerte - may have a wider positive impact in Polish urban planning reality and could become a catalyst of positive changes helping to counteract dangerous and expensive processes that destroy Polish space, such as urban sprawl.

Celem artykułu jest określenie na przykładzie podstref Krakowskiego Parku Technologicznego w Pychowicach i Czyżynach potencjalnego oddziaływania parków technologicznych na możliwości realizacji projektów wpływających na modernizację struktury przestrzennej Krakowa. Wpływ ten może uwidaczniać się poprzez inwestycje prowadzone w parku oraz działania realizowane w obszarze miasta. Udział funduszy europejskich w tym procesie może odegrać znaczącą rolę. Autorka przedstawia "pakiety projektów" działań modernizujących strukturę przestrzenną Krakowa w celu poprawy funkcjonowania dwóch podstref Krakowskiego Parku Technologicznego w Pychowicach i Czyżynach.

The aim of the article is to describe, on the example of subzones of Kraków Technology Park in Pychowice and Czyżyny, the potential impact of technology parks on the realization possibilities of projects influencing modernization of Kraków spatial structure. This effect may be revealed in investments undertaken in the park and measures taken within the city. The participation of European funds may play a major part. The author presents 'sets of projects' of measures modernising Kraków spatial structure the aim of which is to improve the functioning of two subzones of Kraków Technology Park in Pychowice and Czyżyny.

Autor łączy skuteczność rewitalizacji otoczenia dworców kolejowych z kreowaniem atrakcyjnych przestrzeni publicznych. W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję metodologiczną i wyniki badań nad wpływem projektów inwestycyjnych na krystalizowanie się sieci przestrzeni publicznych. Proponowane wnioski dotyczą planowania i organizowania procesu rewitalizacji oraz mogą być pomocne w ocenie projektów ubiegających się o środki finansowe Unii Europejskiej.

The author connects effectiveness of close-to-station areas revitalization with creation of attractive public spaces. In article was methodological conception and results of research on investments' influence on crystallizing public space network were presented. Proposed conclusions refer to planning and organization of revitalization and also may be helpful in evaluation of projects applying for UE funds.

W artykule poruszono problem rozwoju przestrzennego dwóch podstref Krakowskiego Parku Technologicznego w Pychowicach i Czyżynach. Tłem dla rozważań aspektów rozwojowych jest określenie i założenie istnienia związku pomiędzy strukturą przestrzenną miasta a parkiem technologicznym. Przedstawiony autorski pakiet projektów ma na celu budowę powiązań różnego typu, zwiększenie dostępności i poprawę atrakcyjności Parku oraz rozwój jego społeczności. Kluczowym narzędziem wdrożenia proponowanych projektów mogą być fundusze strukturalne UE.

The article raises the issue of spatial development of Cracow Technology Park two subzones in Pychowice and Czyżyny. Development aspects are considered in the background of definition and assumption that there is a relation between city spatial structure and a technology park. The presented author's set of projects aims at creation of different types of connections, increase of accessibility and improvement in the parks' attractiveness as well as development of its society. The main instrument of the projects' implementation may be the structural funds of EU.
