The paper presents a proposal for evaluation (quantification) of operation of any crankshaft-piston assembly in a diesel engine, in which energy interactions proceed at a defined time. This operation is understood as energy transfer to a receiver at a fixed time during which the energy is converted and transferred in the forms of work and heat. Valuation of operation of crankshaft-piston assemblies in diesel engines, as proposed by the author of this paper, consists in equating the operation of this type of engines to a physical quantity whose the unit of measurement is the joule second [joule„esecond]. The crankshaft-piston assembly operation leading to execution of a power stroke by piston has been presented with regard to that the piston connected to the engine crankshaft through a connecting rod moves flat.
