Laser (ang. Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation) jest to urządzenie emitujące promieniowanie elektromagnetyczne z zakresu światła widzialnego, ultrafioletu lub podczerwieni, wykorzystujące zjawisko emisji wymuszonej. Obecnie trudno jest wskazać obszar działania człowieka, w którym nie stosuje się techniki laserowej. Technika laserowa stosowana jest we włókiennictwie i odzieżownictwie do różnych celów, m.in. do pomiarów, obróbki powierzchniowej oraz cięcia materiałów i wyrobów włókienniczych. W ramach niniejszej pracy dokonano przeglądu literatury w zakresie techniki laserowej oraz jej zastosowania we włókiennictwie i odzieżownictwie.

Laser (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation) is a device that emits electromagnetic radiation in the visible, ultraviolet or infrared range, using the phenomenon of stimulated emission. Currently, it is difficult to indicate the area of human activity in which no laser technique is used. Laser technique is used in textiles and clothing for various purposes, including for measurements, surface treatment and cutting of textiles and materials. As part of this work, a review of the literature in the field of laser technology and its application in textiles and clothing was carried out.

In this paper, the Clothing Technology as one of the research activity area was presented. Within this domain, three main directions may be distinguished, i.e. clothing science, technology and organisation. It has been noticed that clothing did not present a subject of scientific activity at first, and all of innovation in its producing process were connected with the textile technology development. This domain has just arisen as a science as a result of the research intensification of special use clothing improving, inter alia for the needs of the military or space journeys. The dynamic development of material engineering let also improve the clothing of everyday use, what was accompanied by the modifications of article structure and treatment. Within the summing up part, the development tendencies of Clothing Science, in the area of clothing science, technology and production process organization, were presented.
