The paper presents results of long-standing geodetic measurements including the most recent results of levelling measurements carried out by the authors. Based on the results, a model of ground surface movements was created, which roughly reflects contemporary tectonic activity of the Inowrocław salt structure. The performance of vertical displacements of benchmarks of the research network for the last quarter-century shows its significant mobility. The results of measurements were discussed in the context of the state of art of tectonic mobility of the area and the geological structure of the dome. Unusual agreement in rates of geological processes (salt diapir uplift) determined by geodetic measurements and estimated by geological methods for a long time interval confirms trueness of previous ideas about contemporary diapir movements of the Inowrocław Salt Dome. Repeated levelling evaluated for two last time intervals provided similar regions and rates of uplifts, giving additional control of reliability of the measurements.

The strong terrain surface changes in Knurów town, Upper Silesian Coal Basin, are caused by underground exploitation of hard coal. Based on Digital Terrain Models (DEM), constructed from archival and modern topographic maps, the 18 metres of lowering due to subsidence and 25 m of relative uplift have been recorded. The relative uplift was observed at recent mine-waste storages and was identified as the effect of waste dumping. The map of surface changes was compared with geological maps and maps of underground mining to explain the spatial distribution of subsidence. The presented analysis shows the effectiveness of the applied GIS approach to evaluate the anthropogenic impact on the terrain surface. SAR interferometry plays a very important role as an independent tool, which allows to effectively map the recent ground movements.

W artykule zaprezentowano analizę numeryczną skarpy poddanej wpływom eksploatacji górniczej. W obliczeniach przyjęto, że na skutek odkształceń poziomych powierzchni terenu, wywołanych eksploatacją, dochodzi do rozluzowania gruntu i spadku spójności gruntu. Stateczność skarpy analizowano przy przyjęciu zmienności spójności gruntu w zależności od odkształceń poziomych wywołanych postępującym ścianowym frontem eksploatacyjnym.

The article discusses a numeric analysis of a slope which underwent the impact of mining operations. It has been assumed in the calculation that due to horizontal deformations of the terrain induced by exploitation the ground gets loose and the compactness of the ground is decreased. The stability of a slope has been analysed with the assumption of the changeability of the ground's compactness depending on horizontal deformations induced by advancing face of the exploitation front.
