Content available Obszary leśne w rozwoju turystyki
PL
Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie znaczenia obszarów leśnych dla potencjalnego turysty, jak i osób zainteresowanych produktami ubocznymi i wypoczynkiem na takim terenie.

The biggest challenge facing the development of tourism in forest areas is to acquire the human factor that decisively affects the development of tourism in forest areas and existing tourist attractions. Forest areas have unique and unique tourist attractions, which should be properly utilized. The development of tourism creates opportunities of economic activation of many economic units, as well as areas with a particularly high degree of afforestation. Forest areas have many advantages in terms of health and, therefore, the organization of tourism in this area is simply desirable. This article attempts to indicate how valuable it can be forest areas in the development of tourism for the proper utilization and management. The study used the method of observation and critical analysis of literature. In various parts of the country observed forest areas, which are not used in terms of tourism and recreation, and quite often are located near urban areas or cities. And their exploitation can improve physical and mental health of society.

Artykuł uzasadnia potrzebę zwiększenia wydajności zasobów leśnych z punktu widzenia biogospodarki, dzięki której lasy staną się źródłem surowca, dającego możliwość wyrobu innowacyjnych produktów konsumpcyjnych i energetycznych (biomasa) w sposób niezakłócający równowagi ekologicznej środowiska. Omawia warunki wymagane do zapewnienia zrównoważonego rozwoju biogospodarki w obszarach leśnych. Podkreśla, że spełnienie tych warunków zależy od polityki państwa, działalności inwestycyjnej banków i stosownej edukacji społeczeństwa.

The article shows a need to increase efficiency of forest resources from the perspective of bioeconomy which helps the forest become a source of materials with potential of making innovative consumer and energy (biomass) products with minimum negative environmental impact. The article discusses conditions required for sustainable development of the forest products sector underlining the role of government policy, banks and fit-for-purpose education.

Contamination of soil with heavy metals drained out from twenty eight abandoned mines in the southwest regions of Korea has been investigated. Utilizing various statistical techniques, the goal was to evaluate and analyze pH and the contamination with Arsenic, and the following six heavy metals: cadmium, hydrargyrum, lead, nickel, chromium, and zinc. Contamination levels of heavy metals were determined depending on the depth of the soil. Results indicated that the subsoil and the surface soil both were strongly contaminated with lead and arsenic. Furthermore, the subsoil also contained much nickel. In forest regions, high levels of lead and arsenic, whereas in all regions high levels of zinc have been detected.

Content available remote Forest roads used by commuting and foraging bats in edge and interior zones
EN
We hypothesized that the flight activity of bats in forests is higher in parts closer to edges due to the presence of species roosting in trees and foraging mostly outside as well as those coming to forage from outside. The aim of our study was to test this expectation using bat netting on roads in a forest belt 4-5 km wide in Kampinos National Park near Warsaw (central Poland). Tree stands were mostly coniferous. Ten full-night study sessions were done between the end of July and the beginning of September in the years 2007-2009. During each session, bats were netted at two sites situated in two zones designated as "edge" (100-500 m from forest edge) and "interior" (1750-2250 m from forest edge). The study revealed twelve species, among which Eptesicus serotinus (Schreber), Nyctalus noctula (Schreber) and Barbastella barbastellus (Schreber) were by far most abundant. Total bat abundance recorded at ten pairs of netting sites differed significantly between the edge zone (ca. 2.5 times higher numbers) and the interior zone. Among individual species, a statistically important difference was shown only for Plecotus auritus (L.), which was more abundant close to the forest edge, though a similar tendency was noted in other species, mostly E. serotinus. The frequency of each species in the bat assemblage as well as species diversity of bats flying along forest roads did not differ between the two zones.

Content available remote Detekcja i określanie powierzchni obszarów leśnych na zdjęciach lotniczych
PL

The paper describes an attempt of applying the methods of processing and analysis of digital color images for detection of forest areas in aerial photos and evaluation of their area. The detection consists of evaluation of specific parameters (feature vector components), describing the analyzed part of the image, and then comparing these parameters with values obtained for domains definitely recognized as forest areas (reference patterns). The user's contribution to the process is the preliminary interpretation of the photo and indication of the above mentioned reference forest areas. Because of considerable size of the analyzed images it seems plausible to choose features that are simple and easy to calculate and apply non-sophisticated methods. The paper contains a detailed description of operations performed in the individual processing stages, the results obtained for selected real images and their comparison to the data obtained from application of planimetric methods.
