Using GIS and SDSS Tools in the Design of a Photovoltaic System for a Built-up Roof

The design and installation of solar panels on the roofs of urban buildings often require consideration of the specific spatial conditions that affect their efficiency. The primary purpose of this work is to develop a procedure for designing and optimizing photovoltaic installations using geomatics methods and specific tools of GIS and CAD systems. The roof of the historic building A2, which is a part of the Poznań University of Technology campus, was selected as the tested object. Solar radiation modelling and determination of suitability zones were performed using SEBE (Solar Energy on Building Envelopes) in QGIS. Possible options for the placement of photovoltaic modules on the roof were simulated with CAD technique in the web-based HelioScope software. The results of the simulation show that the current roof area can generate electrical power of 99.9 MWh/year. The proposed methodology is universal for photovoltaic installations on built-up roofs and can be applied to other buildings and, consequently, the results obtained can be used to improve the content of the solar data urban geoportal.

W pracy prezentowane są wyniki pomiarów własności układu oddechowego techniką oscylometrii impulsowej (IOS). Prezentujemy wyniki pomiarów uzyskanych u 555 osób dorosłych w wieku 45-96 lat (w tym 328 mężczyzn) oraz ich porównanie z klasycznie stosowanym badaniem spirometrycznym. Wyniki wskazują na wysoką korelację wskaźników spirometrycznych i oscylometrycznych, różnicowanie pomiędzy obturacją i jej brakiem oraz możliwość wykorzystania w ocenie stanu obwodowych dróg oddechowych.

The paper presents the results of assessing respiratory system properties using impulse oscillometry. We present the results obtained in 555 adults aged 45-96 years (328 men) and the comparison with classic spirometry. The results show high correlation between oscillometric and spirometric indices, differentiating among obstructed and non-obstructed patients and possibility to use in evaluating the state of small airways.

Monitoring sieci kanalizacyjnej jest niezwykle istotnym narzędziem do poznania zjawisk w niej zachodzących. W dobie urbanizacji i zwiększenia spływów powierzchniowych, kosztem naturalnej retencji w glebie, pomaga zminimalizować ryzyko wystąpienia lokalnych podtopień i zanieczyszczenia środowiska. Podstawowy zakres monitoringu obejmuje kontrolę wysokości opadów atmosferycznych za pomocą deszczomierzy oraz mających odzwierciedlenie w kanale, przepływów i napełnień przez przepływomierze ściekowe. Nieodzowną czynnością jest ich kalibracja. Poza bieżącym monitoringiem sieci kanalizacyjnej znaczenie mają także okresowe inspekcje kanałów przez pracowników przedsiębiorstw wod.-kan. W artykule dokonano przeglądu urządzeń pomiarowych, metod ich kalibracji oraz zjawisk zachodzących w czasie ich eksploatacji w sieci kanalizacyjnej. Na podstawie doświadczeń Miejskiego Przedsiębiorstwa Wodociągów i Kanalizacji we Wrocławiu przedstawiono rozwiązanie systemu monitorowania sieci kanalizacyjnej w mieście. Opisano spotykane problemy eksploatacyjne, przyczyny ich powstawania, sposoby przeciwdziałania oraz potrzebne kierunku zmian w celu usprawnienia pracy sieci oraz poprawy wskaźników efektywności KPI (Key Performance Indicators) wg EBC (European Benchmarking Co-operation).

Monitoring of the drainage networks is an extremely important tool used to understand the phenomena occurring in them. In an era of urbanization and increased run-off, at the expense of natural retention in the catchment, it helps to minimize the risk of local flooding and pollution. In its scope includes measurement of the amount of rainfall, with the use of rain gauges, and their measure in the sewer network, in matter of flows and channel filling, with the help of flow meters. An indispensable part in this step is their proper calibration. In addition to ongoing monitoring of the sewer system, periodic inspections by the qualified employees of Water and Sewage Company should be done. The following article reviews measurement devices, their calibration methods, as well as the phenomena that occur during operation in the sewer network. It provides a solution for monitoring and control based on the experience of the Municipal Water and Sewage Company in Wroclaw, describing common operational problems, their causes, prevention methods and a network operation walkthrough with the improve of performance indicators KPI (Key Performance Indicators) according the ECB (European Benchmarking Co-operation).

Wózków inwalidzkich łączących cechy użytkowe z funkcją pokonywania przeszkód i poruszania się po schodach jest na świecie tylko kilka ofert rynkowych, a ich cena zbliżona jest do ceny luksusowego samochodu osobowego. Prac naukowych dotyczących zagadnień konstruowania i badania dynamiki wózków inwalidzkich jest bardzo mało. Niewspółmiernie mało, w stosunku do zapotrzebowania społecznego na tego typu pojazdy. Praca pokazuje w sposób kompleksowy badania nad koncepcja własną wózka inwalidzkiego poruszającego się również po schodach. Zaprezentowano proces projektowania z wykorzystaniem technik CAx, budowy prototypu oraz badań weryfikacyjnych i walidacyjnych na prototypie.

On the market there are only few offers of wheelchairs combining their motor function with the function of surmounting physical obstructions and ascending or descending stairs. Their prices are comparable to those of luxury cars. There are also few research papers concerning the dynamics of wheelchairs. Definitely too few considering the social demand for vehicles of this type. The authors of this paper are convinced that it is one of the first papers in the world dealing, in a comprehensive way, with wheelchairs. It presents the design process using CAx techniques together with the prototype construction and verification/validation studies conducted on the prototype.
