The paper presents the definition of key terms distinguished and used in the field of vacationing, leisure, and recreation. It explains their similarities and differences. The classification has been developed for holiday centers according to their intended use, forms of activity, and types of services. Key criteria for their classification are provided. It analyzes the experience of designing contemporary recreation centers in Ukraine and all over the world, and identifies key trends in the development of their architecture and infrastructure in general.

Rekultywacja i zagospodarowanie wielkoprzestrzennych wyrobisk po eksploatacji węgla brunatnego jest przedmiotem analizy wykonanej na przykładzie KWB "Turów". Na podstawie doświadczeń krajowych i zagranicznych wykazano, że jest to przedsięwzięcie porównywalne pod względem czasu wykonania, a także kosztów, z budową analogicznych kopalń. Zwrócono uwagę na konieczność wnikliwego i z dużym wyprzedzeniem czasowym, ustalania sposobu wykorzystania wyrobiska poeksploatacyjnego. Wykazano na przykładzie KWB "Turów", że uwzględnienie w projekcie zagospodarowania złoża, szczególnie w planie rozwoju zwałowania wewnętrznego przyszłej, funkcji wyrobiska poeksploatacyjnego ułatwia osiągnięcie zamierzonego celu. Podkreślono także znaczenie przygranicznej lokalizacji wyrobiska poeksploatacyjnego KWB "Turów", dla wyboru sposobu jego zagospodarowania.

The land reclamation and development of the spacious open pit workings left after the completed lignite mining operation constitute the subject of study made on the example of KWB "Turów" Mining Operation Unit. On the basis of home and foreign experience it has been proved that, in terms of time schedule and costs involved, it is an construction of analogous mines. Also noted has been a necessity of thorough determining, to be done well in advance, of how the post-mining working can be best utilised. It has been proved, by way of example of the KWB Turów unit, that taking into account of the future function of the post-mining working in the lignite deposit development plan, especially when making the inner overburden-spreading development plan, considerably facilitates the attaining of intendend objective. Underlined as well has been the importance of a boundary-adjecent location of the post-mining open pit working of KWB "Turów". Unit for the choice of method of its development.
