When life in the 19th century’s London became a nightmare, a journalist and inventor – Ebenezer Howard developed a concept of a Garden City: a place that would combine the advantages of these two places while eliminating their defects. His book Garden-Cities of Tomorrow turned out exceptionally successful and the concept is still influential worldwide. Today, urban planners and landscape architects consider Howard primarily as a precursor of the idea of the coexistence of the city and nature.
