Inwestycje, które nie wiadomo po co powstały i nie wiadomo czemu służą, Amerykanie nazywają White Elephants (Białe Słonie). Mam wrażenie, że stado takich słoni pojawiło się ostatnio w naszym kraju. Stado składa się z: przekopu przez Mierzeję Wiślaną, kaskady Dolnej Wisły, Centralnego Portu Komunikacyjnego i Kolei Dużych Prędkości, w tym połączenia Warszawa-Budapeszt.

Application of Internet of Things in logistics – current challenges

In this paper, some aspects of modern logistics related to the Internet of Things technology were studied. Internet of Things can overcome shortcomings of some areas of logistics, for example monitoring, production management, efficiency of logistics operations, information, exchange and communication, modeling supply chains, intelligent information collection and security. This paper describes some principles and characteristics of Internet of Things, and briefly discusses the application of it in modern logistics. Logistics has come to a new stage with the development of Internet of Things technology. The current application areas and future prospects of this technology are analyzed in this paper. Difficulties encountered in the implementation show that the IoT technology needed to be further improved. However, despite many difficulties, experts believe that the key are not problems of costs, standards and techniques, but the formation of a profitable business model in the logistics industry.

Logistics today has a special importance in the success of any company. Logistics has a major impact on any economy. It is of particular importance for the survival of human beings having a major impact on the quality of life. Logistics affects our success in all areas. Without logistics any process of adding value can not be conceived. Under these conditions, the labour market demand for logisticians at all levels is excellent. Permanent increase in the importance of specific logistics activities lead to considering career in this area as very attractive. Depending on the size of the company, logistician’s responsibility will bind to one or more logistics functions. Nowadays, the logistician can be viewed as a facilitator of trade and doing business.

Logistyka w dzisiejszych czasach ma szczególne znaczenie dla sukcesu każdej firmy. Logistyka ma duży wpływ na każdą gospodarkę. Ma ona szczególne znaczenie dla przetrwania istot ludzkich mając zasadniczy wpływ na jakość życia. Logistyka wpływa na nasze sukcesy we wszystkich dziedzinach. Bez logistyki żaden proces dodawania wartości nie może być powzięty. Zgodnie z tymi warunkami zapotrzebowanie rynku pracy na logistyków na wszystkich poziomach jest ogromne. Stały wzrost znaczenia poszczególnych działań logistycznych prowadzi do postrzegania kariery w tej dziedzinie jako bardzo atrakcyjną. W zależności od wielkości firmy odpowiedzialność logistyka będzie wiązać się z jedną lub większą ilością funkcji logistycznych. Obecnie logistyk może być postrzegany jako podmiot ułatwiający handel i prowadzenie działalności gospodarczej.

Szybkość zmian zachodzących w otoczeniu wymusza na przedsiębiorstwach ciągłe dostosowywanie się, których alternatywą jest przegrywanie na coraz bardziej konkurencyjnym rynku. Coraz bardziej zmienny i bardziej dynamiczny rynek, na którym działają współczesne przedsiębiorstwa sprawia jednak, że skuteczna do tej pory metodologia polegająca na weryfikacji, ewolucji i ciągłym dostosowywaniu jest coraz mniej skuteczna. Pojawiła się potrzeba wprowadzania innowacyjnych rozwiązań, a więc zmian o charakterze rewolucyjnym, a nie ewolucyjnym. Celem prowadzonych rozważań w artykule jest wskazanie podejścia, jak i koncepcji oraz rozwiązań praktycznych ukierunkowanych na wzrost efektywności systemów logistycznych. Przedstawione zostaną zarówno przesłanki powstania, jak i nowe koncepcje oraz rozwiązania odnoszące się do: innowacji w logistyce jak i innowacyjnego podejścia, metody i rozwiązań.

A tempo of changes forced enterprises for standing adjustments because without them they are in danger to loose their positions on more and more competitive market. The factors cause that the changeable and more dynamic market brings about that the existing methodology consists of verification, evolution and adjustment is less and less efficient. Nowadays there is a need of introduction of new innovative solutions; it means revolutionary and not evolutionary changes. An aim of following deliberations is to show approaches, concepts as well sensible solutions in order to increase efficiency of logistics systems. The article presents circumstances of coming into being new concepts, methods and solutions for innovations in logistics, innovative approach.
