Nowadays knowledge is one of the most valuable resources that decide on a success or failure of a company or an organization. The first part of the paper briefly presents the essence of the notion of knowledge, its types, the methods of knowledge acquisition and representation as well as systems for knowledge-gathering and enabling it in the company. In the second part, there are shown the results of the preliminary work on the knowledge-use system for a small-sized enterprises net realizing innovative products.
