The author concentrates on the methodological bases of contemporary geography. According to his point of view, contemporary geography has been experienced an identity crisis. Based on the macroevolutionary conception, the author tries to find out the “comprehensive idea” of geography, identify its object and subject of its research, prove the fundamental character of geography as a science, consider it in the context of other “systemological” sciences and illustrate its theoretical (scientific, in terms of outlook) and practical significance.

Artykuł skupia się na metodologicznych podstawach współczesnej geografii. Zdaniem autora, współczesna geografia przeżywa kryzys tożsamości. W oparciu o koncepcję makroewolucji, autor próbuje ustalić przewodnią ideę geografii, zidentyfikować przedmiot i podmiot jej badań, promuję geografię jako naukę o charakterze fundamentalnym, rozpatruje ją w kontekście systemologicznym oraz pokazuje jej teoretyczne (naukowe, światopoglądowe) oraz praktyczne znaczenie.

The scientific and technical revolution of today is a result of the widespread use of petroleum products on the one hand and the cause of the global ecological crisis on the other hand. In the worst form negative effect of ecological crisis becomes apparent in the agroindustrial sphere causing non physiological interaction of physical, chemical and biogenic anomalies of ecological systems - radiation, smokes, heavy metals, pesticides, fertilizers, dioxins, active forms of oxygen, oil and petroleum products - with cultivated plants and productive animals. As regards the effect on biocenosis the first place in this list belongs to the impact of large spectrum of petroleum products and the products of their destruction.

Współczesna rewolucja naukowo-techniczna jest wynikiem powszechnego wykorzystywania produktów naftowych i przyczyną obecnego globalnego kryzysu ekologicznego. Najbardziej widoczny wpływ tego kryzysu ma miejsce w sferze agroprzemysłowej, gdzie dochodzi do niemających charakteru fizjologicznego oddziaływań stresogennych: fizykalnych, chemicznych i biogennych między ekosystemami, takich jak promieniowanie, aerozole, metale ciężkie, pestycydy, nawozy sztuczne, dioksyny, aktywne formy tlenu, ropy naftowej i produktów ropy naftowych - z roślinami uprawnymi i zwierzętami hodowlanymi. Najbardziej negatywny wpływ na biocenozę mają różnorodne produkty naftowe oraz produkty ich przemian.
