The paper discusses the specifics of assessment of the regional groundwater resources in reservoirs with diverse hydro-structural con.ditions. Methodological aspects of resource calculation are presented for both Cenozoic porous and older fractured or porous-fractured reservoirs, including crystalline rocks of the Sudetes. Resource evaluation methods are analysed, highlighting the important role of numerical modelling as a key tool in interpreting groundwater dynamics. Special attention is given to the hydrogeological structures of the Sudetes, where the application of classical hydrological methods remains a reliable component for verifying modelling results.
