In the last decade inorganic nanotubes became a new class of nanomaterials. Those structures can be formed from inorganic materials such as metals, metal sulfides or metal oxides. In 1992 tungsten disulfide nanotubes (WS2) synthesized by Tenne were the first ever obtained inorganic nanotubes. This report contains some general information on inorganic nanotubes on the background of other nano-objects, the use of which is promising for the synthesis of new composite materials. The morphology of WS2 nanotubes observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) is discussed.
