Content available remote Viscoelasticity measurement of skin in vivo by rheometer

Purpose: The pressure sore is a trouble by the mechanical loading. As for this, the stress concentration occurs to the skin surface, and, next, sphacelation is meant by the skin. However, there is a case where the pressure sore is not improved even if the stress is removed. For this case, defective fixation of the skin is more remarkable than the general person. In this research, the appraisal method was quantitatively proposed for the soundness of the skin. Design/methodology/approach: This paper proposed the model of the mechanism where the skin received the shear stress and the pressure sore was generated. To verify this model experimenting, it examined it in pathology. Findings: The experimental results showed that first of all, to measure the viscoelastic property of the skin with in vivo, the measuring instrument using the rheometer was developed. Next, it made comparative study with the state of pathology of the pressure sore with this measuring instrument. As a result, it was able to be suggested that defective fixation of the skin decide the form of the pressure sore. In addition, it has understood though the state of the therapeutic approach and the prognosis can be evaluated. Research limitations/implications: In this research, the skin was measured using the probe and the rheometer which devised the stage. At this time, the datum point of the rheometer measured by assuming in the bone upper part. Practical implications: This paper cleared that it is influence of the measurement place of a skin viscoelasticity value. As a result, it was suggested that the preventive care of the bedsore becomes possible. Originality/value: The objective of this research project was to develop the skin appraisal method was quantitatively proposed.

W pracy przedstawiono koncepcję zastosowania metody prądów wirowych, jako szybkiej, ekologicznej i nieniszczącej metody pomiarowej, do określania jednokierunkowego rozkładu naprężeń normalnych własnych, wywołanych kulowaniem strumieniowym warstwy wierzchniej ferromagnetyku. Badania przeprowadzono na 48 próbkach testowych ze stali 40 HM. Przedstawiono podstawy fizyczne metody prądów wirowych, cel, zakres i opis przeprowadzonych badań doświadczalnych.

The study presents a concept of using the eddy current method, being a fast, ecological and nondestructive measuring method, for determination of uniavial residual normal stresses. These stresses are caused by shot peening onto the surface layer of a ferromagnetic material. The experiments have been performed on 48 samples made of 40HM steel. The samples have the form of flat beams of a rentangular cross-section.

The surface, thin films and coatings of engineering components play a key role in their quality, properties and application. The surface and near by its region is characterized by its chemical and phase composition, surface tension, viscosity, energy, residual stresses (RS) and mechanical features like roughness, waveness etc. The RS becomes more and more important property of the surfaces and coatings because of their influence on physical, chemical and mechanical properties. This is for the reason of its superposition with loading and important influence of RS on physical, chemical structural and microstructural phenomena e.g. stress induced phase transformation, piezoelectricity, linear relation of resistivity vs. RS and stress-induced self-disintegration etc. Phase composition and RS are usually examined by X-ray diffraction with Bragg-Bretano geometry. The effective depth of penetration (EDoP) for this case changes versus theta angle. New geometry i.e. grazing angle scattering (GAS) geometry avoids above inconvenience. Although most methods of measurements of residual stresses are still under development they become more and more accurate. The non-destructive diffraction methods of measurement of various kind of residual stresses are suitable for surface examinations.
