Celem artykułu jest analiza możliwości wykorzystania danych z nowych, prowadzonych od roku 2008, teledetekcyjnych misji satelitarnych oraz misji planowanych w latach 2009 . 2015 do zasilania baz danych przestrzennych. Analiza parametrów danych satelitarnych uwzględniająca m.in.: zakresy spektralne, częstotliwości, rozdzielczość przestrzenną, sposób obrazowania i powtarzalność rejestracji pozwoliła na opracowanie typologii misji teledetekcyjnych. W obrębie wydzielonych typów zbadano możliwości pozyskiwania informacji przestrzennej i jej przydatności do zasilania baz danych przestrzennych.

In July 2009, the total number of active civil remote sensing satellites was 128. One of the largest groups were multitask land observation remote sensing satellites (47 missions), providing data employed in majority of Earth Sciences and applied in spatial databases. Currently, many new remote sensing missions are in preparation; 85 of them will start in mid.2009 . 2015 and 24 in 2016 . 2025. 11 out of 32 planned multitask land observation remote sensing satellites will be passive high resolution satellites, 7 . passive very high resolution satellites, 3 . hybrid satellites and 13 active SAR satellites. Eight of them will be a continuation of old missions, 7 . resolution & spectral scope advanced continuations of old missions, while 19 satellites will allow to acquire the new type of data. The aim of this research is to analyse the possibilities of employment of the new remote sensing data to produce spatial data, and to investigate the suitability of usage of this data. To achieve these goals, it was necessary to classify the types of remote sensing data. The next step was to analyze the possibility of production thematic information for spatial databases. The investigations allowed to identify the new trends concerning the design of new remote sensing missions and enabled to estimate the possibilities of employment of remote sensing data to produce spatial data, as well as to estimate the opportunities to use them for supplying spatial databases.
