The cosmopolitan freshwater oligochaete Aulodrilus pigueti Kowalewski, 1914 (Naididae: Tubificinae) was recorded for the first time in Poland. The species was found at a few groyne field sites and in the main flow of the middle and lower course of the Oder River. Forty two other species of oligochaetes were found in the analyzed material, including rarely found in Poland Aulodrilus japonicus and Bothrioneurum vejdovskyanum, as well as alien species: Branchiura sowerbyi and Quistadrilus multisetosus.

Deposits of the folded Miocene appear in the surrounding of Andrychów. In the profile of the sediments occurring here, clays with gravels and boulders, mainly flysch ones, clays with gravels of crystalline rocks, limestones andflysch deposits, dark clays with organic detritus and large flysch olistoliths as well as sandy clays and sands are distinguished. The youngest deposits, developed as gray clays, sandy clays with an irregular and thin sandy inter-lamination, have been identified in the Bulówka stream. Based on the presence ofC. coalithus and C. cf. calyculus the age of the studied deposits has been determined as the nannoplankton zone NN9a/8 that corresponds to the Lower Pannonian in a stratigraphic division for Central Paratethys.

Recent investigations of the calcareous nannoplankton, small foraminif era and dinoflagellata has thrown additional light on the age and environment of deposition of the Paleogene deposits of the Podhale Basin. Large and small foraminifera indicate for the Nummulite Eocene Bartonian-early Priabonian age and accumulation in different ernvironments of the shallow carbonate platform. Planktic foraminifera from the uppermost slope grey marls indicate P15-PI6 zone while calcareous nannoplankton data are inconsistent indicating NP16-NP17 or 19/20 coccolith zones. The turbidite deposits of the Podhale flysch accumulated predominately during the Oligocene.
