W artykule zaprezentowano metodę porównania obrazów radarowych generowanych w symulatorach nawigacyjnych z obrazami rzeczywistymi pozyskanymi z radarów nawigacyjnych. Zwrócono uwagę na występujące różnice w obrazach. W opisanych badaniach porównywano wiarygodność generowanych obrazów radarowych w symulatorach nawigacyjnych będących na wyposażeniu wyższych uczelni morskich w Polsce.

Radar pictures generated in navigational simulators with true pictures taken from vessels radars comparison methods are presented in the article. Authors pay attentions on differences between these pictures. In presented research was comparison reliability radar pictures generated in navigational simulators used in Polish Maritime Universities.

Short-term prediction is a tool that helps to manoeuvre inland units, allows assessing the effect of the planned manoeuvre and reduces the probability of collision. Model of ships hydrodynamics is required to perform this task. In the paper simple to implement solution based on a Nomoto model is proposed. Method of determi ning the parameters of the model was presented. Researches were carried out with use of INSim Inland Navigation Simulator.

The paper describes a mean of using vessel’s manoeuvring parameters recorded in real conditions for the purpose of analysing the environment influence on ship’s behaviour. This information has also been used to conduct a comparative analysis of a real vessel and its simulation model in the data base of a navigationmanoeuvring simulator. The measurements were taken on an unrestricted sea area so as to eliminate the impact of developed sites on wind field. The research was conducted in the region of the North Sea and Baltic Sea.

The paper presents one of the methods to determine the maximum vessel size allowed for the maneuver on tested sea area or harbour. This method is based on the Navi - Trainer PRO 5000 simulator by Transas Marine available to the authors at the Institute of Navigation and Hydrography of Naval Academy of Gdynia. In the paper was described the possible use of additional simulator software components to generate the necessary virtual sea area. The next stage of research work was making several tests based on the created virtual harbour. These simulations tests are carried out under variable weather conditions for various vessel sizes and maneuvering characteristics. The result of simulation test are very important for determine the parameters of the maximum vessel size and hydro-meteorological conditions allowing safe navigation.
