W artykule omówiono występujące naturalnie bariery ochronne w postaci drzewostanów wpływających na zmniejszenie hałasu, co udowodniono podczas wykonanych badań.

In the current urbanized world noise is a commonly occurring factor. It is mainly found in urban areas, next to industrial facilities and along the routes. Fast-growing industry and transportation are not without an impact on the environment. One of the risks is noise. Therefore, measures to protect the environment against noise are taken. There are many definitions of noise. The most popular is the one that identifies noise as all the unpleasant, bothersome or harmful mechanical vibrations of the elastic medium, acting through the air on the organ of hearing and other senses and elements of the human body. Noise is one of the most widespread environmental pollutants. The number of the sources of noise is so large that this pollution is one of the major factors degrading the environment. According to the research, noise exceeding the norms covers 21% of Poland and affects 1/3 of the population. Generally speaking, noise can be divided, according to its source, into industrial, municipal and communication noise.
