Religious tourism in areas of environmental value in Poland

The study presents pilgrimage sites located in environmentally valuable areas – the areas subject to two forms of nature protection in Poland, i.e. national parks and natural landscape parks. The purpose of the paper is to present, in quantitative terms, shrines in the protected areas of Poland and to analyse the scale and forms of tourism relating to these sites. The subject of the research includes only shrines of the Roman Catholic Church. A descriptive-analytic method, a dynamic-comparative method, as well as statistical methods were used to present the study results. Over 70 of more than 830 shrines that operate in Poland nowadays are located in areas of nature protected by legislation. At present, in the area of nine Polish national parks, there are twelve shrines and pilgrimage sites that are frequently visited by pilgrims and tourists traveling for religious or religious and cognitive reasons. Nowadays, in the area of Polish natural landscape parks (with buffer zones), there are more than 60 shrines.

Stawy parkowe o powierzchni 1,123 ha w Russowie znajdują się na obszarze zlewni rzeki Prosny. Należą do zlewni cząstkowej rowu przepływającego przez Russów, stanowiącego prawobrzeżny dopływ rzeki Prosny powyżej Kalisza. Zasilanie stawów parkowych realizowane jest rowem wraz dopływami, gdzie spływają wody opadowe i roztopowe. Stawy parkowe są elementem krajobrazu i „regulatorem” stosunków wodnych w parku o powierzchni ok. 4,0 ha, zwiększając zarazem małą retencję wodną. System nawodnień terenów przyległych do stawów w parku krajobrazowym odbywa się metodą podsiąkową. Nad stawami i w ich sąsiedztwie występuje specyficzny mikroklimat, korzystny dla środowiska przyrodniczego.

Park ponds covering 1.123 ha in Russów are located within the basin of the Prosna river. They belong to a fractional basin of a trench running across Russów, which is the right-bank tributary of the Prosna before Kalisz. Park ponds are supplied with a trench and a melioration ditch joining that water course, which in turn are supplied by precipitation and melting water. The park ponds are an element of natural landscape and regulate hydro conditions in the park covering app. 4.0 ha, thereby increasing small water retention. The system of irrigating areas adjacent to the ponds in the natural landscape park is based on a capillary method. A specific microclimate holds over the ponds and in their neighbourhood which favourably affects the environment.

Staw parkowy o powierzchni ok. 1500 m2 w Tłokini Kościelnej znajduje się w parku po-dworskim o pow. ok. 8.0 ha na obszarze zlewni rzeki Trojanówki. Zasilanie stawu parkowego realizowane jest rowem wraz z dopływami, do których spływają wody opadowe i roztopowe. Staw parkowy jest elementem krajobrazu i „regulatorem” stosunków wodnych w parku zwiększając zarazem małą retencję wodną. System nawodnień terenów przyległych do stawu w parku krajobrazowym odbywa się metodą podsiąkową. Nad stawem i w jego sąsiedztwie utrzymywany jest specyficzny mikroklimat korzystny dla środowiska przyrodniczego.

The park pond covering app. 1500 m2 in Tłokinia Kościelna is situated in a former country manor’s park covering app. 8.0 ha within the basin of the Trojanówka river. The park pond is supplied by means of a ditch and its tributaries supplied with rain and melting water. The park pond is an element of the landscape and a “regulator” of the park’s hydrographic conditions while improving the insufficient water retention. The irrigation system of the land adjacent to the pond in the natural landscape park is carried out by means of upward irrigation. A specific microclimate rests over the pond and in its neighbourhood, which is favourable for the natural environment.
