For several years, issues related to the demographic situation in Poland have been causing much concern. Unfortunately, this country is in a difficult and constantly deteriorating demographic situation. This is further complicated by the fact that, due to the low female fertility rate, people of post-working age are not being replaced by younger generations. According to demographers’ forecasts, Poland will be significantly depopulated in the coming decades. Consequently, it can be deduced that the current situation will become translated into consequences for practically all spheres of the social and economic life. What seems particularly important is that the unfavourable demographic trend is already having an impact on both the present and future dimensions of the social and economic life of every region of Poland. It is to be expected that one of the consequences of depopulation would be manifested in the reduced ability of the state to ensure national security. Potential staff shortages that are expected to occur in the formations responsible for maintaining security and public order should already be prompting decision-makers to undertake numerous measures in the organisational, legal and technical spheres.

Od kilku lat kwestie związane z sytuacją demograficzną w Polsce budzą wiele niepokoju. Niestety nasz kraj znajduje się w trudnej i stale pogarszającej się sytuacji demograficznej. Sytuacja jest dodatkowo o tyle skomplikowana, gdyż ze względu na niski wskaźnik dzietności kobiet osoby w wieku poprodukcyjnym nie są zastępowane przez młode pokolenia. Według prognoz demografów w najbliższych dziesięcioleciach Polska znacznie się wyludni. Tym samym można postawić diagnozę, że obecna sytuacja przełoży się na konsekwencje dla praktycznie wszystkich sfer życia społeczno-gospodarczego. Istotne jest, że niekorzystny trend demograficzny będzie również miał wpływ na zapewnienie bezpieczeństwa narodowego. Potencjalne braki kadrowe, które będą miały miejsce w formacjach odpowiedzialnych za utrzymanie bezpieczeństwa i porządku publicznego, już teraz powinny skłaniać decydentów do podjęcia odpowiednich przedsięwzięć.
