Professional profile map as a powerful educational tool for architects and civil engineers

The paper discusses the importance of the Professional Profile Map (PPM) in the context of architecture and civil engineering education. It acknowledges the dynamic nature of these fields due to technological advancements and evolving industry practices, emphasizing the need for professionals who possess practical skills in addition to academic knowledge. The PPM is introduced as a valuable tool that acts as a bridge between academia and industry by defining the essential knowledge, skills, and competencies (KSC) required for success in these professions. Furthermore, the paper discusses the role of the PPM in Erasmus+ projects, highlighting its ability to facilitate customization and adaptability in education. It encourages interdisciplinary collaboration, practical experience, and employability enhancement, aligning with the goals of Erasmus+ projects. A case study from the TAB4BUILDING project illustrates how the PPM was used to identify KSC related to the use of Fibre Reinforced Polymers (FRP) in construction. The PPM's role in harmonizing educational programs across different countries and promoting international collaboration is emphasized.

W epoce intensywnego rozwoju technik telekomunikacyjnych oraz Internetu zmianie ulega również model nauczania, zarówno w szkołach, jak i na uniwersytetach. W coraz większym stopniu odchodzi się od modelu tradycyjnego— kontaktowego, gdzie prowadzący był osobą przekazującą wiedzę, na rzecz tzw. nauczania na odległość, a w szczególności jednej z jego odmian — e-learningu. W nowym podejściu do edukacji prowadzący staje się swego rodzaju przewodnikiem studenta na drodze zdobywania przez niego wiedzy. W pracy przedstawiono krótko rozwój nauczania zdalnego oraz prawodawstwo, na którym opiera się możliwość stosowania nauczania na odległość (w tym e-learningu) w Polsce i w Akademii Górniczo- -Hutniczej im. Stanisława Staszica w Krakowie. Omówiono również przykładowe narzędzia, dostępne na platformie Moodle, które ułatwiają kształcenie studentów oraz osiąganie założonych efektów kształcenia. W oparciu o dane literaturowe i doświadczenia własne stwierdzono, że profesjonalne wspomaganie kształcenia stacjonarnego e-learningiem przygotowuje przyszłych absolwentów do aktywnej ustawicznej edukacji i aktualizowania swojej wiedzy zawodowej z wykorzystaniem zaawansowanych narzędzi kształcenia na odległość.

In the era of intensive development of telecommunication techniques and Internet, a change of traditional teaching model occurs, which is observed both in schools and at universities. There is a tendency to abandon the traditional contact model, where knowledge is transferred by a teacher, in favour of a distance learning, and especially one of its form — the e-learning. In the new approach, the teacher plays a role of a guide for a student on his way to knowledge. In the paper, the development of a distance learning is presented as well as the legislation, on which these methods are based. The exemplary tools available on the Moodle e-learning platform, which facilitate students teaching and obtaining expected effects of education, are also described. On the basis of literature data and Authors’ considerations it was stated that professional supporting of stationary education by the e-learning, makes the former graduates well prepared to continuing education and keeping their knowledge up-to-date, with the use of advanced distance learning tools.

W pracy przedstawiono software'owe narzędzie umożliwiające analizę jakości karty dźwiękowej zainstalowanej komputerze PC opracowane na potrzeby laboratorium przetwarzania sygnałów. Oprogramowanie to w bardzo prostym, powszechnym systemie, jakim jest komputer PC z kartą dźwiękową, pozwala na zapoznanie się z wieloma typowymi problemami praktycznymi spotykanymi przy konwersji analogowo-cyfrowej (AC) i cyfrowo-analogowej (CA).

In this paper a software tool for sound card quality evaluation has been presented. This tool has been specially prepared for student laboratory exercises. Using this tool students can investigate typical problems of practical analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion with the use of simple and common system like computer PC equipped with soundcard.

The Department of Aerospace Engineering, University of Glasgow has acquired two remotely piloted vehicles (RPVS) from the Czech Republic which although originally designed for military uses are being modified for research use as a flying laboratory "CONDOR". The modifications required to the basic air frame have also been the subjects of some joint fourth year design projects. As there are no existing requirements guiding the design of RPV s the design projects could cover the whole range of design from defining and justifying design requirements to producing a practical and costed design.
