The role of feedback in building dialogue culture of a chemical enterprise

Purpose: Verification of the hypothesis that process feedback is one of the key tools supporting managers in effective management through communication. Design/methodology/approach: The aim of the survey is to indicate the actual indicators of the functioning and effectiveness of process feedback in the workplace. The survey started on September 13, 2022. until October 15, 2022. The research was carried out using a questionnaire that was available on Google Drive in the form manager. The research questionnaire contained 37 questions. Findings: The assumed hypothesis has been confirmed. Based on the research, it was found that the ability to work with feedback requires significant improvement. Employees’ expectations towards managerial competences in this area are not reality, which means that the management, despite knowing the rules of the feedback, leaves too much space for intuitive actions. Research limitations/implications: The research was carried out in one of chemical companies, which agreed to condusct the research but reserved anonymity. It is recommended to conduct research in the analyzed topic with the wider scope, as well as covering other industries. Practical implications: It is recommended to implement process feedback in organizations in chemical enterprises, combined with training of managerial staff and their subordinates. Originality/value: The research proves that although feedback is one of the key tool supporting managers, only the process approach to feedback supports effective management by communication. The series of specific actions, as an organized and logical process, involves the sender and the recipient equally.

Lean Manufacturing (LM) practices have gained popularity as a means to achieve high-quality products while reducing costs and delivery times. However, the implementation of LM can be challenging, with a high failure rate. This paper aims to explore the perspectives of employees and managers on LM practices implemented in an automotive company. The research involved primary and secondary data analysis, combining observation, interviews, and a questionnaire survey. The survey assessed knowledge and skills, impact on quality improvement, motivation, supervisor support, control, and engagement in LM development. The results highlight the importance of management commitment and support in achieving successful LM implementation. Moreover, the study emphasises the positive impact of LM practices on employee motivation and the overall quality of processes and products. The PDCA cycle emerged as the most impactful tool, along with other recognised tools like Poka Yoke, Andon, Kaizen, Visual Management, and the 5S method. The findings contribute to understanding the implementation and effects of LM practices, providing insights for companies seeking improvement through Lean Manufacturing methodologies.

Information technology companies often have to setup a specific virtual environment in order to develop innovative software products. Software development requires a variety of IT tools to ensure a smooth flow of information and proper organisation of tasks within the project team. The evolution of information and communication technologies has allowed virtual teams to share knowledge online, which became more preferable than traditional meetings of developers. The main objective of this article is to determine how virtual project teams are being formed and what are the key attributes of a virtual team – a conceptual Three Aspects Model of a virtual team was presented that may be used in further research. An overview of supportive project management software solutions for virtual teams has also been conducted. The research results presented in the paper indicate that various IT tools lack support in some aspects of virtual project teams.

Niniejsza praca jest analizą stanu obecnego, jak i kierunków rozwoju zintegrowanych systemów zarządzania zasobami przedsiębiorstwa, zwanych popularnie systemami ERP (ang. Enterprise Resource Planning) w porównaniu z systemami do zarządzania zasobami wojskowymi zwłaszcza w trakcie działań militarnych, tj. systemami BMS (ang. Battlefield Management System). Znaczna część artykułu została poświęcona prezentacji najnowszych rozwiązań tego typu oprogramowania i wyróżnieniu w nich cech innowacyjnych, które w najbliższym czasie nadal będą rozwijane lub rozbudowywane. Głównym celem opracowania było wykazanie, iż w dobie dynamicznych zmian otoczenia osiąganie sukcesów w zakresie zarządzania przez zarówno przedsiębiorstwa, instytucje wojskowe, jak i związki operacyjne bądź taktyczne idzie w parze ze wspieraniem działalności nowoczesnymi systemami informacyjnymi. Oprogramowanie to, tworzone przy użyciu zaawansowanych technologii informatycznych, wywołuje swego rodzaju „sprzężenie zwrotne”, bowiem staje się podstawą budowania współczesnych modeli zarządzania organizacjami czy też strategii zarówno biznesowych, jak i wojskowych.

The purpose of this article is to analyze the current situation as well as the development trends of the integrated Enterprise Resource Management systems in comparison with the Battlefield Management systems. The main part of the article is devoted to the presentation of the latest solutions in this type of software and the indication of the innovative features which will continue to be developed or expanded in the near future. In addition, the reader will be made famil-iar with a detailed analysis of this trend of expansion in the automotive industry, which has been particularly affected during the global economic downturn. The main purpose of the article is to demonstrate that the dynamic changes in the age of achieving a successful economic environment are going hand in hand with the promotion of modern management systems, which are created with advanced information technologies. They are the basis for creating new models of organization management or business strategies.

The aim of the article is to present some management tools and their impact on the functioning of a knowledge-based enterprises in the context of implementation of the actions taken by them and processes. Paper presents essential features of a knowledge-based businesses, and presents the results of questionnaires carried out in mechanical engineering enterprises in areas of business management tools. The study was carried out in the research and development project named: “Computer-aided management system in the field of knowledge management in engineering industries companies” in 2010-2013, No. 03-0112-10/2010 dated 09.12.2010.

This article presents the concept of internal control, and describes legal regulations that have influence on it. The author presents an example of international production company as an example of properly functioning system of internal control. An article proves that correctly implemented control can become an indispensable tool used at all levels of management.

W nowoczesnym podejściu do kształtowania bezpieczeństwa bazującym na koncepcji trzech er, w której ery reprezentują grupy działań ukierunkowane na rozwój i usprawnienie infrastruktury drogowej, zarządzanie bezpieczeństwem oraz promocję kultury bezpieczeństwa, zarządzanie bezpieczeństwem pełni bardzo istotną rolę. W artykule przedstawiono charakterystykę stanu brd wraz z identyfikacją głównych problemów i grup ryzyka w miastach. Następnie scharakteryzowano systemy zarządzania bezpieczeństwem ruchu drogowego ruchu drogowego, które obejmują struktury organizacyjne, planowanie, odpowiedzialność, zasady i procedury postępowania oraz zasoby (osobowe i finansowe) niezbędne do opracowania, wdrażania, realizowania i monitorowania przyjętej wizji i celów strategicznych w zakresie bezpieczeństwa ruchu drogowego. Na tym tle zaproponowano koncepcję systemu zarządzania brd w miastach, skupiając się głównie na ustandaryzowanych narzędziach zarządzania. W artykule poruszono również kwestię automatyzacji zarządzania bezpieczeństwem w miastach, której rozwój możliwy jest przy wykorzystaniu zainstalowanych lub wdrażanych systemów zarządzania ruchem ulicznym. Przytoczone w artykule wyniki analiz potwierdzają wysoką skuteczność i efektywność proponowanego przez Dyrektywę 2008/96/WE systemu zarządzania bezpieczeństwem infrastruktury drogowej na drogach zamiejskich oraz wskazują na konieczność przygotowania systemu organizacyjnego i odpowiednich procedur do wdrożenia zintegrowanego systemu zarządzania bezpieczeństwem ruchu drogowego na sieci dróg samorządowych. Doskonalenia z uwzględnieniem wymagań standaryzacji, wyników badań naukowych i przykładów dobrej praktyki wymagają ponadto narzędzia służące do zarządzania bezpieczeństwem ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem automatyzacji z wykorzystaniem środków Inteligentnych Systemów Transportu.

Safety management plays a very important role in the modern approach to the development of safety based on the concept of the three eras, which represents activities aimed at the development and improvement of road infrastructure, safety management and promotion of a safety culture, where safety management plays a very important role. The paper presents the characteristics of road safety with the identification of the main problems and risk groups in urban areas. Systems of road safety management were characterized, which includes organizational structure, planning activities, responsibilities, policies and procedures, as well as resources (personal and financial) necessary to develop, implement, and monitor the implementation of the adopted vision and strategic objectives in the field of road safety. Against this background, the concept of road safety management system in cities was proposed by focusing mainly on standardized management tools. The paper also addressed the automation of security management in the cities, which may be developed with the use of the existing traffic management systems or those which are being implemented. Quoted in the article, the analytical results confirm the high effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed Directive 2008/96/EC on the safety management system of road infrastructure on rural roads, and indicate the need of preparation of an organizational system and appropriate procedures to implement the integrated system of road safety management in the urban road network. Improvement with regard to the requirements of standardization, research results and examples of good practice also require tools for safety management with particular emphasis on automation with the use of Intelligent Transport Systems.

Undoubtedly, one of the most important resources are people who in the era of knowledge-based economy do not constitute only manpower, but thanks to their knowledge and skills, became key resource deciding about competitive advantage of an enterprise. As a consequence, managing talented employees became of the most important challenge for modern enterprises. This tendency is also visible in Polish enterprises that create and implement special development programs for employees with the highest potential. Implementation of talent management tools became one of the most important activities realized by personnel departments in Polish enterprises.

Niewątpliwie jednym z najważniejszych zasobów są ludzie, którzy w dobie gospodarki opartej na wiedzy nie stanowią już tylko siły roboczej ale dzięki swej wiedzy i umiejętnościom stali się kluczowym zasobem decydującym o przewadze konkurencyjnej przedsiębiorstwa. W konsekwencji zarządzanie utalentowanymi pracownikami stało się jednym z najważniejszych wyzwań współczesnych przedsiębiorstw. Tendencja ta widoczna jest również w polskich przedsiębiorstwach, które stwarzają i wdrażają specjalne programy rozwoju dla pracowników o największym potencjale. Wdrażanie narzędzi zarządzania talentami stało się jednym z najistotniejszych działań realizowanych przez działy personalne w polskich przedsiębiorstwach.

The contemporary managers shall be acquainted with the knowledge about the practical use of management tools which number is growing yearly. The authors empirically analyze the issue from the point of view of so-caUed system organization theory that in last years becomes very popular and is applied in management practice. Three spheres of the evaluation of the theory's knowledge are underlined, namely, tools concerning quality management, environment management, and, morę and morę frequently used, proso-cial management which uses the CSR conception (Corporate Social Responsibility). The essential point of the research is the perception of tools from the above mentioned spheres. In details, the guestion is about the knowledge, usage and usefulness of such management tools as: ISO 9000 series of standards, Six sigma, Kaizen, ISO 14000 series of standards, EMAS, AA1000, and SA8000.

Artykuł dokonuje identyfikacji niektórych głównych czynników, które wpłynęły na wykreowanie Nowej Globalnej Ekonomii. Scharakteryzowano również wpływ nowych technologii i nowych narzędzi zarządzania na tworzenie coraz bardziej konkurencyjnego środowiska biznesu, w którym klienci stają się punktem centralnym. Wskazano, że procesy te odbywają się w chaotycznym i wysoce nieprzewidywalnym otoczeniu, co pociąga za sobą konieczność szybkiego reagowania na sygnały klientów, kooperantów, partnerów naukowo-badawczych, banków, a także pochodzących ze świata polityki i tzw. środowiska zewnętrznego krajowego, europejskiego i globalnego.

There is also characterised the influence of new technologies and new management tools onto the more competitive business environment creation, in which customers become the central point. It is indicated, that these processes take place in a chaotic and highly unpredictable environment, which requires fast reaction for signals from customers, business partners, research and development partners, banks as well as from so called external environment - domestic, European and global.

Artykuł traktuje o narzędziach zarządzania, które we współczesnym przedsiębiorstwie, jak stwierdza autor, powinny być znane i stosowane przez każdego decydenta i które należą do bardzo ważnych w efektywnym zarządzaniu. Do tych narzędzi autor zalicza system oceny działalności przedsiębiorstwa, diagnostykę ekonomiczną i analizę ekonomiczną. Z metodologicznego punktu widzenia każe z tych narzędzi jest samodzielną metodą i umożliwia uzyskiwanie różnych informacji. Za pomocą systemu oceny można otrzymać informacje o stopniu realizacji celów przedsiębiorstwa, diagnostyka ekonomiczna pozwala określić jakościowy stan zjawisk, natomiast analiza ekonomiczna umożliwia ustalenie przyczyn zmian w badanym zjawisku. Bez znajomości wartości poznawczej rezultatów uzyskiwanych za pomocą tych metod nie można sprawnie zarządzać każdą organizacją i osiągać cele, które są tym organizacjom stawiane.

The article deals with the managerial tools which, as author writes, should be known and used by every decision maker in contemporary enterprise and which are dassified by many authors as the most important for efficient management. To these tools belong economic analysis, economic diagnostic and evaluation system of enterprise activity. From methodological point of view every one of them is an independent method that makes possible to obtain different information. With the help of evaluation system we can get information about the degree of enterprise's target realization, economic diagnostic enables to define the qualitative state of phenomena's, yet economic analysis makes possible to determine the causes of changes in the investigated phenomena. Without knowledge of cognitive value of the results brought by every of these methods it is impossible to manage officially in any kind of organization and achieve goals that lie ahead of that organization.
