The author presents problems that appeared during staff training Computer Assisted Exercises (CAX) courses based on the JTLS system and describes aspects to which we should pay special attention in order to take full advantage of the JTLS system in a future CAX. In particular parts of the article there have been presented numerous ways of using the JTLS system by two groups of participants: the operators and training HQ staff. In the conclusion, the author points out how important the operators’ skill level and the execution of war games’ aims are. He also shows the dependencies between communication systems and the information flow during CAX. Finally he describes the JTLS system flexibility in modelling and researching war games results.
