Relative amplitude preservation in high‑resolution shallow reflection seismic: a case study from Fore‑Sudetic Monocline, Poland

The acquisition parameters and methodology of seismic data processing for high-resolution seismic imaging viewed through relative amplitude preservation are presented. An example of the obtaining of high-quality, shallow seismic data with a variable end-on spread is shown. The source used for the project is an accelerated weight drop. The study area lies within the mine waste disposal area, near Rudna village (Fore-Sudetic Monocline, WS Poland), and results are given for a 2D experimental profile. The aim of the project was to design optimal acquisition and processing parameters for the detailed recognition of Tertiary deposits. The proposed acquisition parameters are a compromise between time, cost and results. High-resolution seismic imaging enables the determining of layers within the range of thicknesses between 5 and 15 m, while the maximal depth of imaging reaches 400 m.

The aim of the article is to present a way to reorganize the environmental management system in the situation of merging companies. This problem was presented on the example of five energy sector companies, which as a result of the consolidation process formed one entity with the group structure. The article is of a practical nature mainly due to the presentation of the implemented principles of assessment of environmental aspects as well as the presentation of the requirements of the new environmental management standard.

KGHM Polska Miedź S A. jest dziewiątym producentem górniczym miedzi na świecie. Produkuje około 440 tysięcy Mg miedzi w koncentracie pochodzącej z własnych złóż. Strategia spółki uchwalona w 2009 r. zakłada zwiększenie łącznego poziomu produkcji do 700 tysięcy Mg, Aby cel ten osiągnąć, KGHM musi powiększać swoją bazę zasobową poprzez nabywanie nowych złóż poza obszarem Legnicko-Głogowskiego Okręgu Miedziowego. Na początku maja 2010 r. Spółka poinformowała o podpisaniu umowy inwestycyjnej z Abacus Mining & Exploration Corporation, dotyczącej wspólnej inwestycji w złoże miedzi i złota Afton-Ajax, w prowincji Kolumbia Brytyjska na zachodzie Kanady. Jest to pierwszy krok ku realizacji strategii KGHM, a niniejszy artykuł opisuje szczegółowo proces selekcji projektów, złoże Afton-Ajax, strukturę transakcji oraz wycenę wartości projektu.

The KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. is the ninth mining copper producer in the World. It produces about 440 thousand tons of copper concentrate from its own deposits. According to the company.s strategy passed in the year 2009 the total production level will be increased up to 700 thousand tons. To reach this target the KGHM must expand its base of reserves by purchase of new deposits outside the Legnica-Głogów Copper Region. At the beginning of May 2010 the Company informed about investment agreement singing with Abacus Mining & Exploration Corporation concerning the common investment in the copper and gold deposit British Columbia province on the west of Canada. This is the first step towards realization of KGHM strategy, and this paper describes in details project selection process, deposit Afton-Ajax, structure of the transaction as well as assessment of the project value.
