W artykule przedstawiono metodę określenia tonacji utworu wykorzystującą sygnaturę muzyczną. Sygnatura muzyczna jest graficzną formą reprezentacji treści utworu muzycznego. Jej postać odzwierciedla liczność, bądź czas trwania poszczególnych dźwięków. W celu potwierdzenia skuteczności opracowanego algorytmu opracowano oprogramowanie i bazę różnorodnych utworów. Pozwoliło to na wykonanie szeregu eksperymentów, które przedstawiono w artykule. Opracowany algorytm porównano z algorytmem Krumhansl-Kesslera.

The paper presents the key-finding method based on music signature. A music signature is a graphic form of representation of musical content, which gives information about number of notes or duration of notes. To confirm the algorithm effectiveness it was necessary to create an application for analysis and collect a database of different music tracks. The enabled the performance of experiments, presented in this paper. The developed algorithm was compared with the Krumhansl-Kessler algorithm.

The paper presents the idea of classification of the content of a piece of music based on its signature. The signature is a set of vectors located in the polar coordinate system. Each such vector is associated with one of the tones of the chromatic scale. Their directions are determined by the positions of individual tones comprising the circle of fifths. The lengths of these vectors reflect the number of occurrences of a particular note in a given piece of music or its fragment. Experimental results confirmed that the shape of signature is correlated with the character of the music arrangement. For the purposes of this paper the classical and jazz arrangements have been evaluated.
This article presents a study on music genre classification based on music separation into harmonic and drum components. For this purpose, audio signal separation is executed to extend the overall vector of parameters by new descriptors extracted from harmonic and/or drum music content. The study is performed using the ISMIS database of music files represented by vectors of parameters containing music features. The Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier and co-training method adapted for the standard SVM are involved in genre classification. Also, some additional experiments are performed using reduced feature vectors, which improved the overall result. Finally, results and conclusions drawn from the study are presented, and suggestions for further work are outlined.
This paper presents a comparison of different normalization methods applied to the set of feature vectors of music pieces. Test results show the influence of min-max and Zero-Mean normalization methods, employing different distance functions (Euclidean, Manhattan, Chebyshev, Minkowski) as a pre-processing for genre classification, on k-Nearest Neighbor (kNN) algorithm classification results.

Artykuł przedstawia porównanie różnych metod normalizacji zastosowanych do zbioru wektorów cech utworów muzycznych. Wyniki testów prezentują wpływ zastosowania metod normalizacji min-max oraz Zero-Mean z użyciem różnych funkcji odległości (Euklidesowej, Manhattan, Czebyszewa, Minkowskiego) w procesie wstępnego przetwarzania w klasyfikacji gatunków muzycznych z wykorzystaniem algorytmu klasyfikacji k-Najbliższych Sąsiadów (kNN).

This study aims to create an algorithm for assessing the degree to which songs belong to genres defined a priori. Such an algorithm is not aimed at providing unambiguous classification-labelling of songs, but at producing a multidimensional description encompassing all of the defined genres. The algorithm utilized data derived from the most relevant examples belonging to a particular genre of music. For this condition to be met, data must be appropriately selected. It is based on the fuzzy logic principles, which will be addressed further. The paper describes all steps of experiments along with examples of analyses and results obtained.

The paper deals with the problem of the content based categorization of music and is focused on a music genre classification. The music genre is a set of characteristics of a group of musical works which distinguishes a given piece from the others. This subject is especially important in social networks, where users are interested in creating playlists or to benefit from efficient recommendation systems. An open source simple and robust system with two-level hierarchical taxonomy is proposed that would facilitate the genre classification of popular music published in free social networks by independent artists. As a test bed for experiments the music published in the free music service Jamendo.com has been used.
