In this work, a new 3-D modified WINDMI chaotic jerk system with exponential and sinusoidal nonlinearities is presented and its dynamical behaviours and properties are investigated. Firstly, some properties of the system are studied such as equilibrium points and their stability, Lyapunov exponents and Kaplan-Yorke dimension. Also, we study the new jerk system dynamics using numerical simulations and analyses, including phase portraits, Lyapunouv exponent spectrum, bifurcation diagram and Poincaré map, 0-1 test. Next, we exhibit that the new 3-D chaotic modified WINDMI jerk system has multistability with coexisting chaotic attractors. Moreover, we design an electronic circuit using MultiSim 14.1 for real implementation of the modified WINDMI chaotic jerk system. Finally, we design an active synchronization scheme for the complete synchronization of the modified WINDMI chaotic jerk systems via backstepping control.

In this work, we present results for a new dissipative jerk chaotic system with three quadratic terms in its dynamics. We describe the bifurcation analysis for the new jerk system and also show that the proposed system exhibits multi-stability. Next, we describe a backstepping control-based synchronization design for a pair of new jerk chaotic systems. MATLAB simulations are put forth to exhibit the various findings in this work. Furthermore, we exhibit a circuit simulation for the new jerk system using MultiSim.

In this work, we modify the dynamics of 3-D four-wing Li chaotic system (Li et al. 2015) by introducing a feedback controller and obtain a new 4-D hyperchaotic four-wing system with complex properties. We show that the new hyperchaotic four-wing system have three saddle-foci balance points, which are unstable. We carry out a detailed bifurcation analysis for the new hyperchaotic four-wing system and show that the hyperchaotic four-wing system has multistability and coexisting attractors. Using integral sliding mode control, we derive new results for the master-slave synchronization of hyperchaotic four-wing systems. Finally, we design an electronic circuit using MultiSim for real implementation of the new hyperchaotic four-wing system.

In this work, we have developed a new 4-D dynamical system with hyperchaos and hidden attractor. First, by introducing a feedback input control into the 3-D Ma chaos system (2004), we obtain a new 4-D hyperchaos system with no equilibrium point. Thus, we derive a new hyperchaos system with hidden attractor. We carry out an extensive bifurcation analysis of the new hyperchaos model with respect to the three parameters. We also carry out probability density distribution analysis of the new hyperchaotic system. Interestingly, the new nonlinear hyperchaos system exhibits multistability with coexisting attractors. Next, we discuss global hyperchaos self-synchronization for the new hyperchaos system via Integral Sliding Mode Control (ISMC). As an engineering application, we realize the new 4-D hyperchaos system with an electronic circuit via MultiSim. The outputs of the MultiSim hyperchaos circuit show good match with the numerical MATLAB plots of the hyperchaos model. We also analyze the power spectral density (PSD) of the hyperchaos of the state variables using MultiSim.

Human postural stability is a complex nonlinear system, which naturally exhibits coexisting attractors and influenced by various factors. This system continuously requires to employ the self-organization mechanisms to maintain postural stability. This functionality is equivalent to switching the system dynamics among its attractors. The aim of our study is to follow the variations of the postural dynamics at different time intervals. The center-of-pressure (CoP) was recorded during 60 s routine walk from twenty healthy young adult men with no evidence of neuromuscular system diseases. The experiment was repeated three times for each subject. We designed a map-based model with multiple attractors and defined two indicators to quantify the system dynamics at various time intervals. To model the system self-organization, we slid a window along the CoP time series. For each window, the parameters and the state variables of the model were set based on the proposed indicators (nonlinear local features). Tracking the behavioral patterns of the posture system is one of the prominent results of this research. The proposed model not only can follow the local (short-time interval) behavior of the system but also its global dynamics variation is like the experimental data based on the correlation dimension (CD). The CD reveals system dynamics in the long-time intervals and reflects the number of the effective system's degrees of freedom. The proposed methods can be used to quantify the variation of information in other biological systems.

Służy do rozpoznawania wzajemnych zależności pomiędzy elementami takich kompozycji i określania potencjałów modyfikacji, ujednolicenia i kontynuacji istniejącej tkanki miejskiej poprzez dodawanie lub ujmowanie elementów przestrzennych. Ujęcie figura-tło stanowi narzędzie metodologiczne, którym posługuje się wielu architektów i planistów. Autorka artykułu podejmuje próbę opisu wybranych współczesnych i historycznych przykładów inspiracji Mapą Rzymu G. Nolli'ego.

Map of Rome by Giambattista Nolli published in 1748 is considered, by researchers and designers, as one of the most important historical documents concerning the theory of urban planning. It has helped to shape the theory of figure-ground, based on the study of urban development, which is seen as a composition of massive elements (which are "figures") to the related space ("ground"). It is used to recognize the interdependencies between the components of such compositions and to determine potential modifications, to standardize and continue the existing urban fabric by adding or removing spatial elements. Figure-ground recognition is a methodological tool, which is used by many architects and planners. The author attempts to describe some contemporary and historical examples for inspiration by the map of Rome by G. Nolli.

Content available remote Inside-out architecture – a game with the multistability of solid and void
EN
A game of the multistability of the solid and void based on turning an interior inside-out reveals the properties of a building or a room. The inside becomes an object, surfaces of walls that surround the internal void are revealed to the outside like the inner lining of a piece of clothing would be unveiled. A game that changes void into solid serves as a model of analysis of the architectural space, or as a method of immortalising nonexistent spaces.

Neural networks composed of two or four cells with combined, electrical and inhibitory, synapses and realized for various network topologies were examined. The aim of this study was to determine a set of phases of oscillatory cycle in which different patterns of activity, characteristic for such networks, can be switched under an external stimulus. In particular, we studied susceptibility of switching between in-phase (IP) and anti-phase (AP) patterns (and vice versa). Our results demonstrate that windows of switching between patterns are similar for networks with electrical and mixed synapses and, in general, relatively independent of the network topology. The only effect of the network topology is an increase of the robustness of the AP pattern in networks of ring-like connectivity. The switching window width and thereby the robustness of the transitions between patterns decreases with the increase of the electrical coupling strength.

This paper presents results of numerical and analytical investigations of non-linear normal contact microvibrations excited by a harmonic force in a system of two bodies in planar contact. The system models, for example, the slide unit of machine tools or positioning systems. The main aim of the computational analysis is to present the evolution of the resonance phenomena under various amplitudes of the excitation force. The studies show that, beside the primary resonance, a number of superharmonic resonances appear, which take place in the single-degree-of-freedom non-linear system excited by a harmonic force. Thus, in a resonance plot, a number of peaks is observed. The superharmonic (ultraharmonic) resonances take place at excitation frequencies being below the natural frequency, and becoming stronger with the increase of the excitation amplitude. The resonances are coupled with complex non-linear phenomena like: asymmetry of vibrations, bending resonance peak, bi-stability, multi-stability and loss of contact, which are presented and described in this paper.

This paper presents results of investigations of non-linear normal contact microvibrations excited by a harmonic force in a system of two bodies in planar contact. The system models, for instance, slide units of machine tools or their positioning systems. The main aim of the computational analysis is to present resonance graphs and time histories obtained with numerical and perturbation methods. Good agreement between the perturbation and numerical results leads to the conclusion that the perturbation solution is correct. The obtained perturbation solution describes well both the primary resonance and the superharmonic resonances. Characteristic phenomena typical for non-linear vibrations are depicted, viz. asymmetry of vibrations, multi-harmonic vibrations, non-elliptical phase portraits, loss of contacts, bending resonance peaks, bi-stabilities, and multi-stability.

This paper presents a study of non-linear normal contact vibrations excited by an external harmonic force in a system containing two bodies being in planar contact. The system models, for instance, the slide unit of machine tools or positioning systems. The presented results, which are obtained both with numerical and perturbation methods, show clearly the evolution of resonance phenomena under various excitation amplitudes. Apart from the primary resonance, a number of super-harmonic resonances has been excited in the nonlinear single-degree-of-freedomsystem. Hence, a resonance graph contains a number of peaks being below the natural frequency. The contact vibrations are associated with strongly nonlinear phenomena like: asymmetry of vibrations, loss of contact, bending resonance peak, multi-stability, period-doubling bifurcations, chaotic vibrations, which are far from linear dynamics. These phenomena are presented and described in this article.
